Review titled Terrible service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 April 2025
Currently dealing with an external agency who sent this surgery a message at end of March, attended an appointment 25th April, said they hadn’t received the update, they have since found this after my appointment and a month after it was received. I’m Taking a medication which has adverse side affects was told by GP to not be so silly a medication can’t cause those side affects, I asked her to check the medication guidelines again as it can and I was warned about it by issuing clinician and she just said well what do you want me to say. Then I told doctor I wasn’t sure if tHe medication I was on was right for me for the condition and she shrugged her shoulders laughed at me and said well don’t take it then, taking into consideration it is a medication should it be abruptly stopped can cause serious side effects. Was also told I was imagining my symptoms, and I had no abnormal results so was taking medication for no reason which I asked if she could check again. To which she said oh yes you’re correct. Are the GP’s here buying their licenses online, I literally walked out of surgery and started crying and no further forward for my issues.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback, and please accept our sincere apologies for the experience you had yesterday. We understand how important your appointment was, particularly given the nature of your treatment. We are very sorry for the distress and inconvenience caused. This was due to absence at short notice that prevented us from being able to notify you in a timely manner. If this appointment has not yet been rearranged, we would be happy to do so as a matter of urgency. You are welcome to call the surgery, or alternatively let us know the best time to reach you and we will contact you directly. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and apologise again for the upset this has caused. Kind Regards Jean Ward Operations Manager

Review titled Appointment lotto
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 16 April 2025
Begin calling numerous times at 7:55am hoping to be in the top 5 to then get through at 8am and you are 18th in line and eventually told there are no appointments available that day and the only way to get one is to go sit at the walk in centre or ring the non emergency number. When you book an appointment in advance using the NHS app it is still not guaranteed as I found out today. Booked a physio appointment for help to identify the pain I have from an RTC on the 24th of last month, this appointment was booked 3 weeks in advance and it being the earliest one available which in itself is a joke, to then be called the day before said appointment and told it’s cancelled with the next available appointment being 07/05. After explaining the urgency of needing this appointment even if it is at a different practice I’m told that is not possible and to either ring at 8am and hope to win the lotto of getting through in time or just wait until the next available being another 3 weeks away. So what’s another few weeks off work and not being able to play with my children let alone have a shower or stand and cook a meal without feeling pain. After making this clear to both people I had to speak with on this call I have been ‘lucky’ enough to get a telephone appointment with the GP on Saturday. Going to be fun trying to show where I’m having pain over a phone call. How can the surgery be taking more patients on when it can’t facilitate the current people they already have even when it comes to basic appointments such as physio. Wonder what the number is for each head they land on the book.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear about your recent experience and appreciate how frustrating and distressing this must have been, especially given your ongoing pain and the impact it’s having on your daily life. Unfortunately, the physiotherapy appointment had to be cancelled at short notice due to unforeseen staff illness. We completely understand how disappointing this is, particularly after waiting several weeks. We always aim to provide consistent and timely care, but there are times when circumstances beyond our control, such as sudden staff absence, can disrupt the service. We apologise for the inconvenience this caused. We acknowledge that our phone lines can be extremely busy at peak times. This is something we are actively working to improve. We also recognise the limitations of telephone consultations, especially for physical concerns such as yours, and we are sorry that this has added further frustration. Your feedback about appointment availability and communication has been noted, and we will be sharing it with the wider management team. Thank you again for your comments, and we hope to provide you with a better experience in the future. Kind Regards Jean Ward Operations Manager

Review titled Terrible appointment system
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 23 April 2025
The system to get a same day appointment is getting worst than ever. Today I started calling at 7:59 as the lines open at 8:00. I was immediately 19th on the queue. I was on the phone for an hour and 15 minutes when finally at 9:15 I got through. In the mean time, I was on 19th for the first 15 minutes. Then 18th for the next 15. I do not understand how this is happening. And when I got the appointment for my heart patient 11 years old son, it was given in Rowlands Gill. I have to now drive 15 minutes to get to the surgery which isn't my closest. The whole system is appalling and I don't understand why this medical group isn't improving and taking more patients.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We're very sorry to hear about your recent experience and appreciate you highlighting these concerns. Our telephone lines do open at 8:00am, and we have staff ready to take calls from that time. However, due to high demand—particularly in the mornings—our queue system can become busy very quickly. Please be assured that our team works hard to answer calls as quickly and efficiently as possible. We understand how frustrating it must have been to experience such a long wait, we operate across four sites to offer greater appointment availability, and we do try to accommodate preferences where possible. In some cases, appointments may be offered at an alternative site if that is where availability is soonest. We're continuously reviewing our appointment system and call-handling processes to improve patient experience. Your feedback has been shared with the management team to help inform those improvements. If you would like to discuss your concerns in more detail, please contact the practice directly—we’d be happy to speak with you. In the meantime we are pleased to hear you were able to arrange an appointment today. Kind regards Jean Ward Operations Manager

Great service this morning from your reception individual ( not able to mention gender etc…!, sadly) You need more similar trained staff who, are able to empathise listen and be proactive in a positive manner. Well done to you on reception this morning.

Review titled Terrible

My usually practice is Ryton, I could only get my 7 year old booked in at crawcrook. Got him out of school early for the appointment, got there 5 mins early, unfortunately I did not know I had to check in on the computer whick is out of sight when you enter. 20 minutes later I went to the desk and explained I hadn’t checked in. I was told I had simply missed the appointment. The receptionist did not check if he could be seen still, she just kept repeating I had missed my appointment. No concern to what my child’s appointment was for, Then couldn’t rebook him back in. It’s concerning especially when children are involved the lack or care is terrible. I then called in the the pharmacy next door to the doctors, spoke to a lovely lady who said if my son has whah she thinks he has the it is highly contagious and needs to be see by a doctor. I have called 111 and waiting for a call back to book in at a walk-in centre as I won’t return to crawcrook. Receptionist seam to have too much power over booking you in or refusing appointment. Granted my mistake for not realising I had to book on but no compassion for a poorly child. Terrible service.

Dear Lauren I am sorry you had a bad experience, however if you do not log in to let the clinician know you have arrived then you will miss your appointment and the clinician will move on to their next patient. I hope you child is on the mend. Kind regards Jean Ward Operational Lead

Review titled Very very poor service indeed!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 August 2024
I telephoned to book a repeat prescrition only to be told that I had to present myself in person or request via email (email address given was down!) , i then requested to book an appointment with a GP, the receptionist asked what my issue was then suggested that a Physio appointment was needed, I pointed out that a Physio appointment shoud come through diagnosis , this was met with a bit of attitude from the recetionist who then rudley told me that there were no doctor appointments availabe and that I should call at 08:00hrs the following day, I challanged that this was a lottery and not suitible, then lo and behold miracuously an appointment became availabe at a linked surgery. Very very poor service all round I'm afraid it is easy to see why people suffer needlesly if this is the battle you have to have for what is a basic service, what happened to the Hippocratic Oath?
