  1. Review titled Great nursing staff, doctors ok, awful reception staff

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Julie - Posted on 15 January 2024

My experience with nurses in particular is always on par, lovely thorough care and always explaining diagnosis/ treatment options really well. Doctors are ok as the lack of time is being felt and appointments rarely go over the 5 min mark. My grief is with the reception staff. Today for example, the nurse asked me to drop by reception and get myself booked in within the next 2 weeks for a call to discuss test results. Receptionist made a big fuss and refused to book this, raising eyebrows, shaking her head and shrugging at me saying if tests come back with abnormal results they would call me, no need for an appt. I politely reiterated that the nurse specifically asked for this and had to give details on it being due to an additional gynaecological swab being performed in addition to my routine smear test. In front of a waiting room full of people hearing us. Still declined the request with added shrugs saying that's not how it's done yet not offering to ask the nurse directly to get clarity (as apparently my request cannot be correct?!). I had to leave as this was going nowhere and I was going to be late going back to work. I put a reminder on my phone to chase up on this hoping I'll get through to someone else then. No willingness to get to the bottom of things, nor to even appear professional or caring. I over heard the person before me (elderly) even tell her 'I won't be bothering you anymore' before leaving. If reception can't hide their disdain for patients I'd suggest changing jobs.

  3. Review titled Can't get appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

Phone is constantly busy or fails to transfer to appointments/reception. Online bookings booked up for four was solid. So howdoes one get to see a doctor?

Dear Dianne, I can appreciate your frustration. Our phone lines have been busy. At peak times we now have the option for patients to receive a call back so you don't need to hold on the phone. We have a number of patient appointments available every day and an emergency duty doctor for urgent problems. We also have a number of 24hr appointments available with our advanced nurse practitioner for minor illness conditions. If patients would like an appointment in advance you can pre book up to 4weeks. I understand for some doctors this is a 4week wait which is longer than we would like and I continually monitor this. I will contact you directly to see if there is anything I can help with. Kind regards Sarah Reid, Practice Manager
