  1. Review titled Refused Entry

We visited on 3/9/23 at 7.55pm approx. The doors were locked and there were no members of the public around, however the security guard let us in. The receptionist then told us we were too late as the surgery was closed from 8pm. When I pointed out that it wasn’t yet 8pm, the receptionist told me that the doctor would just send us to a&e. If the surgery is advertised as 8-8, then it should be operational from 8-8.

  2. Review titled Terrible care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 October 2023

I came to the walk in centre on the Saturday evening of the bank holiday. I had terrible ear ache for days which was getting worse. I was seen by a nurse who said there was nothing wrong with me ans sent me home. On Sunday morning. I was in agony and my face had started to swell. So I came back again and was seen by a different nurse who said I had a slight infection and prescribed oral Antibiotics. Later that afternoon the pain worsened and I was out at the shop and talking to my partner , when a passer by overheard and told me they were a Dr and I should go to A& E immediately as the infection was tracking down my neck. Arriving at A&E I was seen and they called ENT to see me - who told me I had a severe ear infection - my ear canal had closed up it was so swollen. They were shocked when I told them I had been the day before and earlier that day to your walk in centre and told nothing was wrong with me. I should have been given Oral Antibiotics and Ear antibiotic drops on the Saturday evening. If your staff are so incompetent not to be able to diagnose an ear infection then I fear for people with serious problems.

I took a friend who does not live locally to the walk in centre at 9.30 am with bronchitis, by 1.30 pm he had been taken by ambulance to Kettering General after being given oxygen, antibiotics an X-ray and treated in the most caring, considerate and professional manner from receptionist to doctor. Thank you.

  6. Review titled Refusal of Treatment

by Distressed and Let down - Posted on 03 March 2023

I developed a dental abscess and struggled via 111 NHS services and emergency dentist to be seen. The abscess was that big I couldn’t open my mouth correctly not only due to infection but due to pain. I travelled to urgent care, where I was greeted kindly via a receptionist who could see the distress I was under. I seen a triage nurse who could also see the distress I was under and they reassured me that if I waited my turn I would be treated with care. After waiting 3 hours I was called into see a nurse who was rather rude. When I tried to explain I couldn’t open my mouth fully when they wanted to examine the inside of my mouth, they told me unless they could examine me they couldn’t treat me. So as I sat in pain I allowed the nurse to look into my mouth. Another nurse came in to collect something from the room and the original nurse I was seeing asked them how to treat this as they're not a dentist. To which the 2nd nurse replied that I should be treated with antibiotics but I would need to get a follow-up appointment with my doctor if need be. The original nurse asked me to leave the room while they went to go and find someone higher up and ask their opinion. I was seen by nobody else for an examination…. The nurse came back to me and said they were refusing to treat me, please can I go over to A&E and get a face drain. I explained I didn’t need a face drain, I needed antibiotics, to which they said they were refusing to supply them and sent me on my way…. I have recently been treated with antibiotics and was told that had I not found treatment things could have been a lot worse than what it was…. Our dental service has been down since Covid and for me to have been refused treatment, even though I was told to be given, is disgusting and I’m glad things didn’t take a turn for the worst.

We are sorry to read you felt your experience was not up to the high standard we set out to provide. We were pleased to read that you were treated with kindness by our reception and triage nurse initially. 7. Review titled Poor waiting time Information

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 March 2023

I took my seven year old granddaughter to the centre she was being sick and running a high temperature. It was Sunday morning about 11am, the notice of two hour wait was written on a put up boards by the booking at reception. We were seen by a nurse straight away and advised there was a wait! They gave my granddaughter something to help with the high temperature and asked us to sit outside and we would be called. After two and a half hours still waiting I went to reception and checked we were on the list, to be told yes! and are now in the next batch and will be seen shortly. A further two and a half hours later and still had not be seen, or called forward. I had been checking the digital notice board throughout the wait and no update had occured. My granddaughter was very upset and running a high temperature, crying and generally not well. I decided at that point to take her home and try to make her more comfortable. I spoke to reception and advised them I had not been seen and had been waiting for nearly five hours, to be told it was 4.52 minutes and we were next on the queue. I advised her that's what I was told the last time I enquired which was two and a half hours ago. I asked again how much longer to wait? she couldn't tell me. Seems to me the lack of communication between the nursing staff and the receptionist, the receptionist and the people who are waiting to be seen, plus the hand written information boards that tell you wrong times as guideline. Everyone expects to wait to be seen, but when they are running queues as long as that, without informing people that waiting time are changing, and waiting times are going to be in excess of five hours something needs to change. I cannot comment on the medical staff as sadly we did not get to see anyone.

We are sorry to read you felt your experience was not up to the high standard we set out to provide. We can certainly understand how it is frustrating when waiting times are long, and particularly in your case, when the waiting time was not communicated effectively. It is disappointing to read that our information boards were not accurate, and we apologise for this too. 8. Review titled Poor practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Hartley. C. Bolton - Posted on 19 February 2023

My daughter visited the clinic 19/2/23 after a fall, resulting in a hand and knee injury. The triage nurse booked her in for an X-ray. During her 6 hour wait she repeatedly asked why other people whom arrived after were put through before her. None appeared in worse pain than my daughter. At 8pm ( 6 hours later )a doctor saw my daughter stating she should have an X-ray but unfortunately the X-ray department was now closed and suggested she now goes to accident and emergency at Kettering. This is totally unacceptable after such a long wait , to be told to go now to Kettering accident and emergency and start all over again. She came home totally distraught for wasting 6 hours on her day off , and had to be up for work at 5 am the next day. A great lack of commitment from this unit.

Dear Hartley, Thank you for leaving this feedback, we apologise for the delay in getting back to you. We are sorry to read you felt your experience was not up to the high standard we set out to provide. We can understand how it feels frustrating to have waited 6 hours, to then be referred on to the local hospital for further assessment/treatment. I attended with a possible fracture in my hand. Very speedy, friendly and efficient service. There was a problem with the computer system which unfairly hampered the staff but was dwelt with well. Superb paramedic seen, X-ray, advice and future care suggested and all done within 90 minutes. 10. Review titled Worst Urgent Care Centre Ever

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 January 2023

I visited this urgent care unit 25/01/2023 at 20.15pm after being referred with a very sick 3 year old with temperature over 39 degrees. The referral from NHS111 was at 18.50pm who advised we needed to be there within 2 hours. Upon entering the centre which doors opened fine we was abruptly approached by 2 individuals who were like wo wo wo where are you going to which I replied to been seen by a doctor as we was referred by 111. The gentlemen replied no you are not we close at 20.00pm you need to go somewhere else. We explained that we had been referred by he just getting care. Even though there was still patients in reception waiting to be seen by the nurse no attempt was made to see if any exceptions could be made. It was basically get out and go somewhere else. Due to this rude attitude I advised we would sit down and wait to be seen as its not as if they can throw a sick child out to which the gentleman replied if you do not leave we will phone the police. I advised well I am sitting here and will call 111 for assistance as I could not believe what was going on. Before I even got through to 111 flashing lights appeared and 4 police officers in 2 cars arrived. They approached us and pretty much said they are closed. Not the staffs fault that you was miss advised. You need to leave. I responded that I have a sick child. I don't want to leave until she is seen. The police then advised if we do not leave I would be arrested and kept in cell over night for disturbing the peace. Disturbing of what peace I have brought a sick 3 year old to the care centre as advised and was simply doing what I was told. In the end I left and had to return home and be back at square one. This is the fourth time visiting this care unit and never have I been treated in this manner. No compassion or empathy was shown. No attempt to explain or talk to us on a human level was given to make us leave calmly. It was a very rushed abrupt experience as the focus of the gentleman that approached us was clearly on getting home more than the welfare of patients. I will not be going to this care centre ever again after this as I have never been spoken to or treated in this manner before. I suggest no one goes close to close time as you may get the same unprofessional level of care. It is a real shame the NHS has fallen so far downhill. I have lost complete trust and faith not just the NHS but Corby Urgent Care Unit altogether. Staff training is a must for this site and how to communicate is clearly an area of weakness. I am an advocate of speaking to people the way they speak to you. Considering the NHS have posters stating that staff should not be spoken to aggressively it would be nice if they treated the public with the same courtesy.
