You cannot get in touch with them via telephone and on the very rare occasion someone actually answers, you get told to phone at 8am. I'm already at work by then, so how am I meant to get checked out? I shouldn't have to book a day off work in the hopes that I can get in touch and I should have to resort to going to A&E just to get seen. This is why A&E is always full, because receptionists don't answer the phone and surgeries don't have pre bookable appointments!?

We are currently trying to manage an unprecedented surge in demand, along side which we had 250 people miss their appointment last month. Our phone lines are manned 8am till 6 pm and are constantly busy, but please keep trying and our receptionist will answer. We are a GP practice and not an emergency service, anything urgent can be triaged through 111 and if it is appropriate they will sign post people to A&E.

  2. Review titled Pathetic

After receiving a call stating I had to take my wife (stroke victim) for an urgent blood test I then got her ready which is a struggle and got her to A&E where we had a 40 minute wait to see a nurse to be told they had no record of this , I was then advised to go to blood tests where again no record of blood test requested . I then phone thorne Moore doctors to be told that I would have to wait at A&E to see a doctor to get bloods done ( a predicted 10 hour wait) I explained that I could not wait that long to be told " that's your choice". I have just spent the last 8 weeks at my wife's bedside at 3 different hospitals stressed to have this doctors receptionist get me even more stressed . Do these people not realise that they are speaking to patients or relatives that are on the edge . Just because she couldn't be bothered to send a note through to DRI or explain on initial phone call the problem . To say I'm fuming is an understatement . I came home as we wasn't equipped for that length of wait having my wife in a wheelchair and no money for refreshments or tablets or inhalers with us.

Given the information we had of your wife's condition, a decision was made that it was safest if she was seen in A&E. Thank you for taking your wife there. We are sorry of the experience in A&E, like all of the NHS they are extremely busy. If you are wanting to complain about the wait in A&E you could go through PALS.

All the people I have ever talked to at this surgery have been extremely rude. I called up to ask about a prescription and got hung up on and borderline yelled at how disgusting and disgraceful it is to treat people that way for no reason what so ever.

  4. Review titled Usually fab surgery

Spoke with a very nice PA who tried to be helpful . He spoke with gp who said couldnt offer treatment without speaking or seeing me ! So speak to me or see me . Alternative go to ED. Absolutely not an ED problem. Finally sorted after trying with my surgery for a week with no help by paying a private GP. No wonder the NHS is in crisis when clear primary care problems are sent to ED. Poor service this week from an otherwise excellent surgery

  5. Review titled Dreadful - Avoid.

Rated 1 star out of 5

Went in on evening of Monday 9 Jan to see could I book an appointment as I have discovered two moles which have become flat, rough and misshapen. I had already spent a week during work hours trying to ring and constantly getting the busy tone. I explained the issue to the receptionist who said they have no pre boolable appointments until March, i said could I book one of those then at which she refused and said I would either have to ring on the day (when I said I had been doing that every day for a week she ignored me) or come down at 8am and hope I could get an on the day appt. When I said my shifts start at 6am she shrugged her shoulders and said that was the only way. I then asked about the health bus to which I later discovered she had given the wrong information. Absolutely appalling service - also i went in there at 5pm, there was one person in the waiting room and still I was not allowed to see a doctor. This surgery and it’s staff are a disgrace to the NHS

We are sorry you have had this experience. We should not be telling people to "ring back tomorrow" so will bring this up as a training issue. All calls and appointment requests should be triaged appropriately.
