  1. Review titled Not what it used to be

Rated 2 stars out of 5

The gp service in the uk seriously needs to be investigated and restructured. I've just been on hold for nearly 3 hours to be told that there's no appointments and to call back Monday! And then if I were to call back I imagine I'll be on hold for another 3 hours to be told the same thing. I work full time and can't take time off work if I can't be guaranteed an appointment. Besides which, I didn't need to speak to a gp today, I was trying to make an appointment for later in the week. There should be space allocated each week for people to book none emergency appointments. And gps should be open 7 days a week like other nhs services. This would surely free up a&e. I've been at this doctors my whole life and it's never, ever been this hard to talk to a gp. I won't bother calling back Monday- lets hope my illness isn't life threatening!

After 1.5 hours trying to get through I was told as I could not get into the practice because of work, a doctor would not call me back I explained i had a cough for 3 months getting worse and coughing up blood but still no I asked why they would not help no reply You are punished for working, I cant afford time of like many people these days I have not been to the doctors for years, only go when really need Discussed with the fact that they did have telephone appointments but would not offer as at work just incase the doctor wanted to see me

  5. Review titled cant get through

Rated 1 star out of 5

It is virtually impossible to get through to speak to a advisor / admin to arrange an appointment, it literally takes hours and then when you do get through after trying for several hours you are expected to call back again at 2 This is not idea when you work full time its really not acceptable to spend so much time to arrange an appointment, especially when you only call when you are very unwell and have exhausted all other options

  6. Review titled Impossible to get through on the telephone.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 December 2022

I have been trying to get an appointment for the last 2 days, I have tried over 45 times to call and every time its a recorded message to say that the queues are at full capacity. I cannot believe that in this day and age we cannot even get our doctors surgery to answer a phone call. Then when i do get through it will be an absolute battle to even get to speak to a doctor. Absolute disgrace.

  7. Review titled Awful

I've been fighting 7 months to get my health issues noticed. Doctors do not listen and they do not look at the bigger picture. It's very difficult to get an appointment and you will be waiting in a que for over an hour. First come first served, so those working 9-5, it's impossible to get appointments. I have had no doctor take me seriously, until my issues escalated to the point I was in the emergency department. This could have been preventable with the right care from the beginning. I wouldn't recommend this gp to anyone.

  9. Review titled Impossible to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

If you are one of the lucky people that manage to get an appointment at the surgery, then I am sure the service you will receive is second to none. However, if you have a full-time job and are out at work five days a week then basically you are stuffed. You spend days making phone calls only to hear a message asking you to call back as the queue is at full capacity. You then find yourself listening to a message saying you are number 9 in the queue and suddenly there is a slight glimmer of hope that you may get an appointment. However, after spending 50 minutes waiting and listening to the same on hold music and boring message over and over again only ends in disappointment and frustration when the receptionist tells you there are no more appointments available, and you will have to start the process all over again. Why make people wait to find out there are no appointments, when a message could be played stating this. Charlton Medical Practice website says that 'all patients have the right to receive treatment and if it is urgent, have the right to receive a consultation with a GP within 24 hours'. It also states they are 'offering a small amount of pre-bookable Face-to-Face appointments with the doctors. These appointments are available to be booked no more than two weeks in advance'. The receptionist did not offer this when I called. She did not even ask what the issue was and whether it was urgent. I would be grateful if Charlton Medical could advise how people like myself, who are not able to sit for hours on the phone day after day, can access your services? How do we get the medical treatment we need?

  10. Review titled Very helpful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 July 2022

Recently joined practice. Have been very impressed with them. They’re clearly very busy but got an appointment quickly for me when I was experiencing mental health problems. Found receptionists helpful and they will apologise for keeping you waiting. Have had telephone consultations with GP and these have been good and explained my options and I felt listened to. Fit notes have been arranged very quickly when needed.
