I called in today to make a query. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. She was nice to me and made me feel listened to.

  2. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I needed confirmation of information given to me by a nurse at a consultation. I didn't want to take up an appointment, just reassurance that I was following the treatment correctly. The receptionist I spoke to was extremely helpful and got a message to the nurse. The nurse very quickly responded to me by text with a caring and clear message. Winners all round - my query was answered quickly, no wasted appointment. The receptionist was very polite, listened to my concerns and took time to find the correct way to get the information I wanted. NHS frontline staff are often unjustifiably maligned but this receptionist and nurse deserve praise for the way in which they represented the Practice today.

My last 3 telephone requests for medical help, have been dealt with within 4 hours. From the initial phonecall to having medication, via face to face appointments. The reception have given appointments the same day on all 3 occasions. Caring and wecoming advice given from all 3 doctors and nurses. Medication sent at once to on site chemist and avalable 5 mins later. Excellent service.

  4. Review titled Why are there still no online services? Terrible service.

It’s 2023 but you’d think it was 1973! This practice isn't fit for purpose. No one answers the phone and even if they do, it’s virtually impossible to get to see a gp. Even trying to answer an admin query is a farce since the online system isn't working. Ive had to resort to driving down to the surgery just to speak to someone. How is this serving the needs of the community? It’s not is it? It’s really not that hard to have an online system for queries and appointments. It doesn't feel like the practice has any plans to address this either. I suppose it suits if people can’t get through. Tough on those that remain ill, are in pain or deteriorate though. Shocking and unacceptable.

  5. Review titled Diagnosed by receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

I've been with this surgery for over 20 years and they've always been great. However in recent years its been increasingly difficult to actually speak to a GP. They now have an e-consult form as a first point of contact which i've used for the first time today and am not impressed. Completing the form takes an eternity answering the same questions over and over, however I did so and submitted it as I'd been in pain for a week and needed some help. After submission I received a message advising i'd be contacted by 6.30pm the following day. I was therefore pleasantly surprised when my phone rang an hour later showing the surgery were contacting me.. I assumed with an appointment to either see a GP or at least a time to speak to one on the telephone.. however no, it was a receptionist who'd looked at my form and decided I needed physiotherapy! No need to see or speak to anyone with medical qualifications.. the receptionist went on to ask if I was in any pain (despite having said this multiple times on the eform).. i replied that i'd been taking ibuprofen but it wasn't helping at all and this was the main reason for contacting the surgery as the pain is keeping me awake at night. The receptionist used her medical degree again and said "ah well thats what a doctor would give you anyway so just keep taking them ok". I appreciate the NHS is under pressure but being diagnosed by a receptionist is unacceptable and being told, however politely, that there's no way you're getting anywhere near a doctor when you're in pain isn't great either. I'd rather have waited longer and actually spoken to a qualified doctor than being dealt with in super quick time by a receptionist. Time to look for a new practice which is a shame.
