    Rang up to sort a problem with a prescription at Sturminster Newton the person I spoke with was abrupt and bordering on rude. Very unexpected as I’ve always received five star treatment there.

    My wife had an appointment with a clinician on 20th Feb 2024 at 2.30pm. My wife was in some pain and was feeling unwell and at times had difficulty in providing clear answers to the questions asked by the clinician in order to establish a diagnosis. Additionally the pain was making her short tempered and rather unreasonable in her demands. In spite of these problems, the clinician did not take exception, and at all times was extremely helpful and patient and polite. Bearing in mind that my wife, presumably, was not the only patient being dealt with that day, I can only admire the calm and forbearance shown by the clinician . Consequently, I would like send my thanks and praise to the staff involved in performing such excellent work

    On two consecutive days, using the Klinik online service I was answered in under two hours and problems100% solved. I boast about Abbey view to my friends who are so envious of the prompt and excellent service all round here, Lovely staff,including friendly and helpful receptionists, and superb medical staff. I am so lucky to have this surgery!

    Had great difficultly contacting the Audiology department at Dorchester for an appointment. Requested help from the practice. They wrote to Dorchester and I quickly had an appointment for the following week.

    I was appalled by the results of a survey which only reflected the views of just over a hundred people. I am the envy of all my firends who are astonished at how efficient and brilliant this surgery is. In 4 months as an elderly patient I have used Klinik online, had a phone call within hours and a face to face appointment either the same day or the next day. All members of staff here are excellent and all my problems have been solved. What more could you ask for?!!

    Mum is housebound, my father rang asking for someone to attend the house to see mum, thank you for sending a member of the clinical team to see her so promptly. The initial telephone contact with the practice member of staff was very helpful and supportive and the attending clinical team member was very professional. Thank you.

    Despite the acute shortage of staff, my problem was dealt with in an excellent manner by staff on reception. They were compassionate, kind and helpful. I cannot praise them enough. This is true of past occasions too. I think they all do their best in very difficult circumstances. I have no complaints.

  8. Review titled Good Practice but they do not have enough resources

    My doctor is very kind and the other staff works hard too. I have a few health problems and they are trying to help me resolve them. However they do not have enough time to be through so I have to make sure that I keep on top of following up conditions. I hope when the conditions are resolved that I will not need to go in so often.

    Trying to book a flu jab after receiving an e mail yesterday. using this system is ridiculous it will not allow you to enter your date of birth, used for identification purposes. It reverts to the days date, it needs sorting out. We are not all whizz kids, you are meant to provide a service for which I paid all my working life, it needs to be user friendly.

    Dear Patient. We are sorry you have had difficulty booking your flu vaccination via the link we sent out. You can directly type into the date of birth box and you can reply to the message if you would like us to book you an appointment which a number of patients have done, or contact us via email or telephone. We have had a number of patients book their own appointment, which enables those that need our help to contact us as we have notified them of this particular clinic.     How different it is to talk to the surgery after using NHS111 when we were concerned about shingles, and had already spoken to a pharmacist. NHS111 answered within a minute, did extensive triage, and a doctor called us back within five minutes. She advised us to contact the GP for shingles treatment within six hours as it's time critical. More in hope than expectation we rang the surgery. To be told that 'their triage is not our triage and our doctor will have to do triage' and 'all our doctors are in a huddle at the moment, someone will call you back sometime today'. Every time we contact this surgery the reception is the same, a lot of waiting, music and 'use our website', but no actual practical help. Shingles is a dangerous virus, and when told that treatment is needed within six hours, to be knocked back by a receptionist is yet another kick in the teeth. We understand that there are GP vacancies, and the workload is growing, but really it's time GPs got back to working at the surgery, organised their business efficiently and stopped hiding behind the pretence of covid security and receptionists who are not medics. Very angry indeed.

    Dear Patient We are sorry to hear that you are very angry and have had difficulty contacting the surgery. The demand on our service along with other GP surgeries is currently very high, and we are all struggling to recruit. Staff shortages have meant there has been longer waits, and we are working on ways to improve this. To ensure that the most urgent patients are prioritised, our clinicians do have to triage as we don’t instantly get information from other services, including NHS111. The daily huddle that you mentioned is for the team to discuss urgent, end of Life or complex patients and is a very important part of the clinical day. I am sorry that you felt you where knocked back by a receptionist, our team works very hard to reassure patients that they will get a call back within a few hours when added to the urgent care team, however the demand each day can be very high and we can take up to a 1000 calls per day. Our GP’s and staff have worked on site throughout the Pandemic, however the way we had to work had to change, to protect patients and staff. We are very grateful to all our team who continue to work very hard to provide the best service we can, whilst being short staffed, and receive daily abuse from patients. Although I do not have your details, I am sure that you would have been contacted by a member of our urgent care team within a few hours, and are now recovering, however if this was not the case and you would like to discuss further please do not hesitate to contact the surgery directly and ask to speak with any of the management team.
