    New to the area studying a short course at a local university - I was not registered with a local practice. After numerous attempts to temporarily register with local practices and hitting a brick wall - Blackheath standard practice reception staff knew that this was possible and were able to help me register as a temporary resident. I was able to see a GP the same day for the antibiotics I needed and avoided a potential A&E visit and potential admission to hospital thanks to the knowledge and skills of medical and administrative staff at this practice. I have already recommended the practice to work colleagues and i was extremely happy with the service received. Thank you all !

    I have always found the doctors and nurses at this practice to be helpful. The front desk in dealing with appointments is another matter. It takes forever for anyone to answer the phone for an appointment. On this occasion, needing vaccinations before overseas travel, I decided to walk to the surgery. On arriving I was told I couldn't make an appointment in person and would have to go online. I did so, and filled in a form requesting a nurse appointment. I then received a message telling me I couldn't book an appointment and would have to call. When I did so I was told I should have filled in a form with details of my travel on the website, but I could not see that when I visited the website. I could also apparently have picked up such a form in the surgery, but nobody bothered to tell me that when I went in. I asked the person on the phone to therefore e-mail me the necessary form, but she advised me she could not do so. She was distinctly unapologetic for my wasted time and for the poor service in the surgery the previous day, simply saying 'it wasn't me you spoke to'. I appreciate these sorts of jobs are busy and pressured, but this surgery really needs to improve its standards of service, which are disrespectful to patients

    I have read poor reviews of this practice. However I have to report that I have had face to face appointments, which were deemed necessary, and friendly, helpful and efficient dealings with the reception staff. I find emailing the practice a useful way of communicating.

    I know the telephone system is different to get through on if you don’t start calling at 8. But We have had exceptional support My husband with cancer just out of hospital and my autistic son who became very poorly at the same. The receptionist was helpful caring and supported us to get to see a dr arrange a double apt for a blood test as my has a phobia. The health care worker was again supportive and caring and skilfully took blood. When my husband presented unwell within a couple of weeks he was being seen at guys to receive chemo and then surgery. There follow up care was excellent
