They refuse to pick up the phone. You are 'number 1 in caller queue' but are left waiting for literally 50minutes in the same position, which clearly means they're not picking the phone up. If you request a call back, they call for half of 1 ring and put the phone down to avoid speaking with you - where is the accountability for reception staff? If they eventually do pick up, they are very rude and unhelpful. If you do get an appointment however, the doctors are great.

We have just implemented a new phone system on the afternoon of Friday 15th March and there have been teething issues in the first few days. Highly supportive Gp and very good experience. They always try to help their patients within a good time frame and a fast response. You can easily book an appointment when you need.

Had great experience. Very easy to get appointment. consultation was excellent, as doctor was very attentive and good listener. V cooprative admin staff and v tidy practice

I’ve been so impressed with Blackfriars Medical Practice. My daughter moved to London at age 16 and had to move GP surgery. I was very reluctant about this at first but to be honest Blackfriars have been simply amazing. The care, support and enthusiasm to help has been incredible. Every time I have rung the surgery I have had nothing but cheerful and helpful advice. Reception staff are always super helpful and go the extra mile to support my daughter with appointments etc. Every GP my daughter has seen have also gone the extra mile and always been kind & respectful, even getting second opinions to check. A real team effort! So, a huge thank you & well done for running such a great practice. I talk regularly about how great you are to my work colleagues - if only all GP surgeries could be like Blackfriars!

The receptionist is unprofessional and patronising. Joined the GP a few years ago as I moved into the area, and it looks like they receptionist are just there to keep people away for GPs. Every encounter I had whit this GP was dreadful and a waste of time. Below are 3 examples: I had some blood test done to eliminate some possible underlying factors for the actual reason I came to the GP in the first place. When I called back to arrange a follow up appointment I was told by a receptionist "they are fine" and she hung up. I had to call back 2 more times to finally get a follow up appointment. (The issue is still undiagnosed) During the vaccine rollout I called I received contradicting information about the availability from different staff at reception. And I am currently suffering from a re-occurring outer Ear infection I would like to see a doctor but again the gate keepers at reception make it impossible to see someone without first going through the humiliating experience dealing with reception. Yesterday I called to get an appointment to see what if they can look at it as it is reoccurring. I was told the don’t do appointments and I need to call at 8am. I just did that I was told that I need to call at 1:30 or make and appointment. (Funny that I read below in the review how other patients are only offered appointments in the future) This is the last straw I will leaving this GP practice.

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the service received at the practice. If you wish us to investigate any particular issues then please email us at souccg.blackfriars@nhs.net for the attention of the Practice Manager. We offer same day appointments for urgent medical issues and these are released at 8am and 1:30pm on the day. It can sometimes be difficult to get one at the time of calling if they have already been utilised by other callers around those times. In the most recent national patient survey, 86% of respondents said they found the receptionists helpful compared with the local and national averages of 80% and 82% respectively. We also have an electronic consultation (eConsult) facility available via our practice website for patients who wish to obtain advice from a doctor which negates the need to call in or present via reception. Our doctors review eConsults and a response is communicated to the patient within 2 working days. Whilst we are sorry to see you leave, we recognise that you are quite within your rights to register with another surgery. We wish you the best of health. Blackfriars Medical Practice

Said my daughter was ill she said next available appointment was 3 weeks.. Told nothing she can too & to complain if i want & dont i know theres a doctors strike atm.

Doctor I saw always caring and listening,am a patient since 2008 never had any issue so fare but lately I had an issue with receptionist who doesn’t seems that she cares in doing her job properly as she didn’t had an answer for my query!! Not even get advice or ask her supervisor. I also find her rude the way she talked to me

We do try our best to offer a good service but it seems that we haven't on this occasion. In the most recent National Patient Survey, 86% of responders said that they find our receptionists helpful compared to the Southwark average of 80% and National average of 82%. The doctor and nurse asked concrete questions and sorted out my problems but importantly put me at ease. My old doctor is gone but they are also fantastic Got face to face appointment easily when at my grandson’s practice so difficult to see a doctor Keep it up, you are the best

Treated me with care and support and respect, I was so relaxed with the doctor he was very good and easy to talk to in which I struggle with. And the phone call back after as well.
