    I am a new patient and I had an appointment here at the end of April, this was my first GP appt for some years and I wanted to let you know how it went. Making the appt was painless, I found the reception staff very helpful and my appointment went well. Dr xxxxxxxx was very kind especially as I had to ask about reinstating a repeat prescription after my examination. I explained that my job involves a lot of travelling, so arranging to collect it can be tricky. So she arranged for the medication to automatically be sent to the pharmacy for 6 months where a family member could collect it for me ready for when I’m back for a few days. But she said I needed the required annual blood test for this medication first as I hadn’t had one for some years. This was going to be another stumbling block for me to arrange as I would be away again in a couple of days. I called reception the next day (I’m afraid I don’t know the name of the lady I spoke to) but I said I know this is a very long shot but was there any chance you had a cancellation today for a blood test, I explained that I was leaving again the next day, she was understanding and said she would check for me but came back to say unfortunately there wasn’t anything. I asked if it was still the case at Southampton Hospital that I could turn up with the form and wait, she said she thought so but would check. She came back and told me they no longer did this, but she gave me another number to call (I think it was Lymington Hospital) about an appointment with them. I called this number and spoke with yet another very nice, helpful lady who said she would check for me, she was gone a little while but again there was nothing available for that day, however she said she had found one appointment at RSH hospital but I needed to be there in about 40 minutes, I was delighted with this and said I can be there in time and thanked her very much. When I was on my way I had another phone call from the same lady at the practice, she had taken the trouble to actually find me an appointment at the surgery for the blood test that afternoon as well. I was honestly blown away by her kindness and efficiency. I did explain that thanks to her previous help I was already on route to an appointment. I was so impressed with all the interactions I had from start to finish, I know there are many moans from people, particularly aimed at receptionists and secretaries who are constantly juggling too many balls in the air and who I believe have an extremely difficult job. I’m generally a very positive person and I believe in speaking to people with respect and understanding, if more people did that perhaps they would also find that people are far more inclined to go the extra mile when they’re not being shouted at and abused when you’re just trying to do an already difficult job the very best you can. So thank you very much indeed for the all round great service!!

    I asked the receptionist for two ailment appointment. The receptionist said one of my ailments was not important enough. Now I got this soppy message saying if I need two appointments I should ask!!!! If my appointment takes more than ten minutes. Then I will pay for it!!!

    Received text message at 14:15 from NHS app 12/09/2024 to ring and book an appointment. Run Blackfield Surgery at 15:00 only to be told I had to ring back at 08h00 tomorrow to only be able to book for next 2 weeks. I asked why can't it be booked now, only to be told those that called at 08h00 today , all appointment slots for next 2 weeks have been booked and there was nothing she could do. I was told to call at 08h00 in the morning and see what's available. This is shocking to only be able to book max 2 weeks ahead. With all the tax payers money ploughed into NHS, all the pay increases, only to be told to call back every morning at 08h00 and try see if any spaces are a ailable, without even trying to help, and book more than 2 weeks ahead to help both parties out, this is a shockingly poor service. You wouldn't run other medical service provider like this. Patient is the customer paying taxes and ultimately the cost. Very poor booking service just for a routine non urgent appointment.

    Dear Mr Briant, I'm sorry that we haven't delivered a service to your expectations, we are bringing in a new online booking tool, called Anima, which we hope to have fully up and running by Dec /Jan, this will triage patients and electronically open relevant appoint for them. Last year we offered 56,000 appointments in practice and 60,000 appointments at our Urgent Care Centre at Hythe Hospital, I'd be more than happy to discuss our appointments structure with you if this would help. kind regards Phil Sayers Business Manager

    My app was with the Dr. I was really pleased with the way the Dr. deals with my issues he is very professional, listens to what I say and responds to my requests in a very kind and relaxed manner. This was my second appointment with him, both times were a good experience! So I'd like to say a big Thank You Doctor for dealing with me. Also I would like to thank all of the staff in the practice the Nurses are great, the Receptionists are much more friendly and helpful than a few years ago. The actual atmosphere seemed very relaxing with music playing and I liked the fact that there is lots more information on screen as well all around the surgery! The overall experience is very pleasant. I did mention to the Dr. that "I liked what they done to the place"! Thank you for looking after my health for me!

    Arrived at surgery 10 minutes before appointment and checked in “automatically”. Was called in by the Doctor just before appointment time which was excellent! Doctor was respectful, professional and thorough with examination. Felt very confident in Doctor.
