  1. Review titled Great Nurse Practitioner

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Clive Hart - Posted on 08 April 2024

Had reason to visit Bethesda practice today with a trapped nerve in my back. The Nurse Practitioner who I saw was simply brilliant. Clear and precise advice given in a caring and positive manner. Future care outlined and booked. Medication prescribed and explained. All done with understanding, efficiency and just a touch of very welcome humour.

  2. Review titled Good practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Although in the past i’ve had a bad experience with one of the GP’s, I have to say this practice is kind and proficient. When i’ve done an eConsult i’ve always had a response. My GP is very understanding. Even though there might be a bit of a wait for an appointment, the reception staff have always done their best to help pass over queries or get me an appointment as soon as they can. Had a pill check on friday and my GP called me the next monday to review this and prescribe my medication. Just want to say a thank you for your hard work!

  4. Review titled No hope

Getting an appointment at my GP. Today, after a week of trying, I managed to get through to my GP's surgery to request an appointment, only to be told my GP didn't work today and all the appointments for other GPs had been filled by patients who went to the surgery when it opened its doors at 7am. My needs aren't urgent, I received a message from the surgery to make an appointment for the results of tests but I still have to call them at 8 30 and joint the queue, today i was call no. 10. When I got to the top of the call list, after holding for 13 minutes, I was told my GP didn't work that day, so I couldn't make an appointment. There is a serious fault with the primary care service in this area, and, I suspect, in many other areas. Isn't it about time the government stepped in to do something. This lack of primary care is, in sure, the reason A&E departments are so overwhelmed. GPs seem to have changed their working practices during the COVID outbreak but, unlike all other service providers, have just continued with their pandemic regimè. How can this be allowed. They are NHS providers. I worked for the NHS for nearly 40 years. I went to work every duty during the pandemic, I travelled 20 miles each way to do this. Our patients mattered. (I since retired at the age of 72.) I feel entirely let down by the GP who is obliged to care for my health.

  5. Review titled Awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 March 2024

No idea what they are doing. Totally deny mess ups. Apparently one test for constant calls made in distress at being in severe pain and completely debilitating tummy symptoms for almost every day for a year is an adequate level of care. One test and then told repeatedly it must be a food i tolerance and to buy Buscopan over the counter , despite begging for some help. Left the practice in tears almost every time

I had a appointment 29th Feb 2024 at 2.39 to see someone about my copd a checkup that the surgery requested a month ago and they texted me the appointment. I'm 66 I went along to the appointment in good time checked in .15 minutes later I asked when I would be seen only to be told I'd been forgotten and would see me when a space came up .I walked out .I will not bother with the copd check ups again its bad enough I live at Westwood cross don't drive and I was put in the doctors at palm Bay so it's not a 5 minute journey. Rubbish .

Dear Mr Rogers I'm very sorry you feel you had a wasted visit to the Surgery. I have investigated and we can see you arrived in plenty of time for your appointment today and the clinician called you 10 minutes after your appointment time as she already had a patient in the room. Obviously as you had arrived 30 minutes early this did mean that you were waiting a long time. I can see that the clinician called you for your appointment 4 times up until it was recorded that you had left the Surgery. It is very important that all patients medical conditions are followed up and I would hasten you to make another appointment. Best wishes R Cousins Practice Manager

  7. Review titled Unfriendly admin staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Alma - Posted on 07 November 2023

After confirming over the phone that I was able to pick up one month emergency contraception pill with admin staff, I came in person to the reception to action this, and at first the receptionist said I wasn’t able to action this prescription, when a) it was confirmed over the phone and b) I’ve actioned this beforehand in the past. Then, I explain that due to no appointments for the rest of the month, my annual check was not until December, and I only have 1 week left of the pill, the receptionist then says that I have an appointment booked, yet it’s the 7th November and the check is not till the 13th December, how does this receptionist not compute that it’s simply more than 1 week between these dates? It’s basic maths, is that not required even for an entry level role? Overall, the experience which was meant to be very straightforward and standardised, was long winded and annoying due to incompetence of admin staff.

  8. Review titled Terrible communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 August 2023

Admin staff talk to me as if I’m beneath them and not worth their time of day. It comes across from nearly all staff that as a patient with additional needs I am seen as being difficult on purpose. There are two great Drs I’ve seen who genuinely have empathy and are sensitive to my needs but the rest of the staff have been awful. I don’t intend to make a complaint as doing this in the past about another issue has led to punitive care. There needs to be a way of patients being able to communicate with the practice manager where there are persistent issues. I’ve been trying to arrange a meeting for three years but this has been refused.

Dear Patient I was very sorry to receive your feedback on the service provided at the Surgery. I would like to investigate your concerns further and ask that you contact myself/my assistant on our patient email: bethesda.patientcontact@nhs.net to give me further details. I would like to reassure you that patients will not be treated differently for highlighting a concern and I would appreciate the chance to restore your faith in the Surgery. 9. Review titled Rude and uncaring

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 August 2023

Staff on reception are really rude , I get anxious about speaking to them as I don’t like conflict. I got issued the wrong prescription so was told to come in to speak to the prescription clerk, when I got there they told me the prescription clerk was upstairs, I’m disabled so couldn’t do the stairs, they eventually phoned and asked the prescription clerk to come down saying “yeah she’s apparently disabled so can’t do the stairs “ whilst laughing. She then said the clerk doesn’t have time to come down so you’ll have to phone up and get another appointment to ask for the right prescription. I decided just to go without the medication from now on as I always leave feeling worse than I was. Staff need to understand that we are human and understand the harm it causes being rude and dismissive to patients.

  10. Review titled Inaccessible, Unavailable, Unreachable!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 July 2023

Weeks and weeks of calling and being cut off in the queue after hanging on for hours. Does not matter if you call at 1 second passed 08:30 or later in the day, the phone queue will be in double digits! Patient Access service does not allow appointments to be booked on-line; constant message saying you have booked the maximum number of requests - although no booking requests have been made!? You do get the odd text from them asking for you to arrange a routine review, but again, why bother, you will not get through (or at the best spend days trying!). I've been informed by other unfortunates that are 'serviced' by Bethesda that the only way is to turn up at 8am (or 7am on a Friday) and queue to ask the receptionists for an appointment! But, be prepared to wait several weeks for your GP! Not sure why I'm wasting any more time on this review, I doubt there will be any response! If you are reading this and the others below / above, which are in the same vein, please, please for the sake of your health consider finding another GP Practice, that is what I'm off to do.

Dear Patient I was very sorry to receive your email detailing your unhappiness with the service provided at the Surgery, particularly in regard to access to appointments. We are aware of the problems with our telephone software and we are migrating to a new system from 24th August which will give our patients the ability to have a call back rather than wait in a queue. Unfortunately with regard to on-line booking we are aware of the difficulties our patients are having. We have recently changed our appointments system and there has been teething problems with getting the on-line appointment booking system working but we are working on this and hopefully this will be available to our patients soon. I would like to apologise to you and the rest of our patients for the inconvenience that they have suffered. Best wishes Rachael Practice Manager
