  2. Review titled Absolutely horrendous

Rated 1 star out of 5

    - myself, waited for an urgent appointment which took two weeks - medication prescribed but naturally not sent over to pharmacy after turning up to collect it…4 days later still not there. No answer on the phone either. Secondly my son desperately needs seeing to in regards to his mental health as it is in major decline; after 6 weeks of trying ive not managed to get any further with getting him a doctors appointment. Horrendous. I know my elderly nan is struggle to get an appointment as well. 0 care, confusing system and no urgency to anyone.

  3. Review titled Cannot get the help needed

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Valerie A Edwards - Posted on 19 February 2024

I am 80 and disabled. I was beginning to think this surgery had improved, but not anymore. I had been told the doctor would ring about the results of my Xrays. Has not happened. I also need help with a foot problem. I cannot get to the surgery. There is another problem a district nurse came to look after. The first nurse was excellent, the next a disaster She asked me if I had a dressing then after I said no she say it didn't matter and gave me some barrier cream. She is allegedly a Senior District nurse. What a mess it all is.

Dear Anonymous, We are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with our service. However, without additional details we are unable to properly assess what happened. Please contact us at the health centre so that we can investigate your experience further. Regarding telephone appointments, over 75% of consultations can be effectively conducted over the phone. Given that telephone appointments typically require less time than face-to-face consultations, this enables us to expand our appointment availability, which is crucial especially during times when appointments are in high demand. Nonetheless, if a GP determines that a face-to-face visit is necessary, they will arrange for the patient to come in to the health centre. We acknowledge that no system is flawless, but we are continuously assessing out appointment system to ensure that we provide the best possible service to our patients given our available resources. With kindest regards, Berrycroft Community Health Centre

  5. Review titled Message received to book appointment, then turned away

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Marais - Posted on 26 January 2024

Had blood tests done. Received a txt message to call the surgery to book a routine appointment Upon calling I was told they can see a txt message was sent to me, but they cannot book an appointment and I have to phone back for an on the day appointment... How rediculous is that??? The GP needs to speak to me about my blood results, yet I have to make the appointment. Surely the GP requests the appointments department make an appointment with the patient? The service from the practice has gotten so much worse since the merge its not even funny Whenever you complain they always say they are working to improve and change, yet the service stays the same

  6. Review titled Appointments with a GP

Rated 1 star out of 5

Impossible to get an appointment. You phone at 8.30 am and there's 25 people waiting. You get to the end of the wait, and there's no appointments left.

Dear Anonymous, We are sorry that you are experiencing difficulties when trying to book an appointment at the health centre. As highlighted in recent news reports, GP practices nationwide are facing mounting pressure due to the increasing number of patients seeking medical care. We are continuously reassessing our appointment procedures to ensure we are offering the best service we can for our patients and have safety netting procedures in place where patients have urgent need. We are also actively recruiting an additional GP to enable us to provide more appointments. Whilst we understand that this does not offer an immediate solution, we hope you can see that we are dedicated to delivering the best service that we can with the resources that we have. With kindest regards, Berrycroft Community Health Centre

  7. Review titled Night & Day Experience - The Berryfield Team are amazing

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Robert B - Posted on 07 August 2023

My experience with the Berryfield Medical Centre has been a complete breath of fresh air compared to what I've experienced before it. Right from the first walk into the centre, the staff were friendly (though busy), organised and incredibly helpful straight from the get-go. They were warm, welcoming and happy to engage and help. I didn't feel like just another number. I wish I could add the details of the doctor who has been assisting me, but having struggled with a condition since I was 14, the doctor at your practice was actually willing to listen and also put me on a path where I have felt an actual, genuine improvement to my health, where previously engagement felt honestly a bit gaslighting at times, with reference to mental health/stress being over emphasised in favour of actually making me feel like there might just be something wrong with me they could help with. My support with this condition is ongoing, but I already feel leagues better than I did and for the first time in quite literally a decade and a half, I feel like I've got hope again. Incredible experience. They really do set the golden standard for care.

  8. Review titled Service needs improving

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Called just after 9am to book a blood test. Waited half hour before I spoke to a Receptionist. Surely, booking a simple blood test can be done through your App Inpatient Access, even booking a doctors appointment? Then maybe the queues on the phone at 8am wouldn't be 2hrs. Awful service.

Dear Anon Thank you for your comments. I apologise for the delay you experienced when calling us, we are extremely busy. This is why we have the facility on our phone system for you to choose the option for a call back which would have held your place in the queue and allowed you to get on with your day while waiting? We do have a number of\ pre-bookable blood test appointments available which may be up to a couple of weeks in the future. If patients do not want to wait that long, an appointment can be booked in the phlebotomy department at the hospital, but these need to be in consultation with a clinician, patients cannot just call themselves to book. We do not have plans, currently, to make appointments available on the NHS App, instead, we work with 111 for additional capacity on an on the day basis. We will however continue to review this regularly. Yours sincerely C.L. Moran Patient Services Team Manager

  9. Review titled How do you get an appointment?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2023

The way this surgery handles appointment bookings is shameful. How do you get an appointment? it's a mystery to me, it seems you have to try and call at 8pm along with the other hundred or more people trying to call at the same time as you. If you do manage to get through, you then have to wait for a doctor to call you back and you then feel under pressure to justify why you feel you need a same day appointment. I almost feel as though I'm not registered with a doctors surgery, that's how difficult it is to get an appointment. If you call later on in the day, you will just get told to call again tomorrow. No wonder the accident and emergency departments at hospitals are jam packed and being abused, when trying to see your own GP is deliberately made so difficult.

Dear Anonymous I am sorry that you have found your experience with us frustrating. We do have a system for urgent on the day medical problems followed by advice to access the 111-triage system when we have reached capacity. We have appointments set aside for 111 to book patients into when we are at this stage, so that our patients are safe. This is the only advice our receptionists can give at that point. As I’m sure you are aware, we are under great pressure and our appointments are at a premium. We are not deliberately making things difficult unfortunately we can only book into available appointments, as much as we would like to help our patients. If your need is urgent, please call us again to discuss, however our telephone lines do not open until 8.30. If you do not need urgent clinical assistance, you can request a pre-bookable appointment or perhaps your pharmacist may be able to help so please contact them if possible. Yours sincerely C.L Moran, Patient Services Team Manager

  10. Review titled Worst practice ever

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 December 2022

I tried to get an appointment for my 7 years old boy who is really poorly 2 days in a row. Called at 08:30 been on a line for 40 mins and been told that there is no appointments left didn't even ask the reason why I am calling, didn't give any advice. Both days just been told to call next day. They should change something at this practice because its getting ridiculous now with appointments. Even when I am trying to get it for my self I never get it. Really disappointed and fed up now with that I dont see any other way just go to A&E all the time and see this surgery really useless.

Dear Anonymous Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that your experience fell short of your expectations. I cannot comment on your individual treatment without further information and investigation. If you still have ongoing issues, please contact the Medical Centre to discuss them privately so that we can help to resolve them. We aim to achieve the best solution for you and understand better the difficulties you have experienced. As I’m sure you are aware, we are under great pressure, however we do have a system for urgent on the day medical problems followed by advice to access the 111-triage system when we have reached capacity. We have appointments set aside for 111 to book patients into when we are at this stage, so that our patients are safe. We did reach capacity at 9.06 on 14th December so the system would have been explained to you by the receptionist and this is the only advice they can give you. Receptionists are not able to give medical advice as they are not qualified to do so. You would have been advised to call 111 so that your 7 year old could be triaged and if 111 decided that he needed to be seen on the day, they would have been able to book him with us the same day. The receptionists are only able to book into available appointments, they would very much like to be able to give our patients an appointment every time they have a request, however this is not possible. I understand that trying to get through on our present telephone system is very frustrating and time consuming and even more so when you finally get through and there are no appointments left. We have now had confirmation that a new telephone system will be put in place in January with options to direct patients which should help with call waiting times. Yours sincerely Christina Moran, Patient Services Manager
