It’s my first visit to the Surgery and I am impressed with their electronic queuing system. The receptionist was kind and attentive, and the doctor examined me thoroughly. All in all my experience has been great.

Review titled Poor practice- difficult to get results
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 April 2025
Poor communication, difficult to get results. Awaiting blood test results and X ray results. Test results aren't reported in a timely fashion and I wasn't called with issue I had to ring. What is the process? It is a nightmare getting though on the phone. I have asked a family member to leave this review online as I am not confident with technology. Comms between primary and secondary care poor and delayed. Receptionists curt, we appreciate they are stretched but trying to get information an uphill struggle.

Dear Patient, Thank you for sharing your concerns. We’re sorry to hear about the delays in receiving your test results and the difficulties you’ve experienced in getting through to us by phone. We understand how frustrating this can be, especially when waiting for important health information. Generally we will contact patients if their test results need to be discussed with a GP, if results come back as normal we do not contact patients to inform them. We are continually working to improve communication between primary and secondary care and to support our reception team during busy times. Your feedback helps us identify where we need to do better, and we appreciate your patience. If you need further assistance, please contact us directly. Rated 1 star out of 5

I came to this practice as they part of lewishan care partnership. So my gp refered me to this doctor as my surgery didn't have any appointments. When I got there the women receptionist was not helpful at all and very rude. I took a cab to just get here I also had the text message to show but she was refusing and not helpful. Never coming here again even last resort.

Dear Patient, Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re very sorry to hear about the difficulties you faced when visiting the practice, especially after making the effort to attend in person. It’s disappointing to learn that you found the receptionist unhelpful and rude, and that your appointment details were not properly acknowledged. This is not the standard of care or respect we aim to provide. Your feedback has been shared with the team to help improve how we support and welcome patients. Review titled Unresponsive and disappointing service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 September 2024
This is my close relatives direct experience which I have witnessed and tried to help in. Quick appointments are impossible to come by and usually only available 7 /8 weeks in advance. Appointments are sometimes moved or postponed to a time the patient has not agreed, which is very difficult for working individuals in open plan offices who have other work commitments and can’t take unplanned phone calls. Unhelpful reactions from some (not all) reception staff (who act as if they’re disgruntled volunteers rather than trained to deal with people with various needs and vulnerabilities, who welcome help navigating their complex system) results in frustration at their lack of respect and understanding of one’s situation. Some reception do, however, do their best to help. This week a long- awaited consultation related to an affecting health condition was disappointing: The doctor seemed unprepared for the individual consultation; Not listening; Not considering one’s concerns and views; Medical terminology used frequently rather than simple language to explain test results; A lack of empathy and kindness during consultation ; One’s health issues left unresolved. I have experience of the care system and totally understand the pressures. But I would be devastated to receive any of the latest feedback this practice gets, and convene immediate overhaul of my systems and services, including retraining the teams to be responsive, respectful and kind in their interface with patients. The pressures on primary are well known, but a little kindness at reception and a little more consideration of patients’ concerns and views during consultations would make a huge difference to patient experience and their response to staff.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful and detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear about the difficulties your relative has experienced, and we appreciate your efforts to support them through what sounds like a very frustrating and disheartening process. We fully acknowledge that timely access to appointments is a serious concern. The current demand on primary care services means that we are often operating at capacity, but this does not excuse the distress caused by long waits, rescheduled appointments without prior agreement, or a lack of flexibility around patients’ availability especially for those with work or other commitments. We are particularly sorry that your relative’s recent consultation left them feeling unheard, confused, and unsupported. Clinical staff are expected to communicate clearly and compassionately, to listen carefully, and to involve patients fully in discussions about their health. It is unacceptable that your relative came away from an important appointment feeling their concerns were not acknowledged or addressed. Your comments about reception are also well taken. While we are glad to hear that some team members have been helpful, we are sorry for the instances where interactions have felt unwelcoming or dismissive. We are working to improve consistency through ongoing training focused on communication, empathy, and supporting patients with a wide range of needs. We absolutely agree that even small changes in attitude a little more kindness, active listening, and respectful communication can make a huge difference to someone’s experience of care. Your feedback is being shared with both clinical and administrative teams to help us reflect and improve. Thank you again for raising these concerns. Review titled Once good family GP, now deteriorated to atrocious level
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 August 2024
I've been a patient here for almost 20 years and, fortunately, have rarely needed to see a GP. The last time was about six years ago, during which time the service has deteriorated considerably. I have been trying to make an appointment for more than two weeks, calling at 8am each day and failing to get through. I have tried using Patient Access but am constantly told that it isn't possible to book an appointment online. In desperation, I called into the clinic to ask for a non-urgent appointment. The two counter staff were astonishingly rude and seemed to view me as a nuisance. I was told that I could make an appointment using an App but that only a small number of appointments were released each day. I asked what time I should try and was told, with a roll of the eyes at my stupidity, that there wasn't a specific time that appointments were released; I would just have to keep trying. I have tried and, again, nothing seems to be available. It seems to me that the attitude at this surgery has changed for the worse since it became part of the Lewisham Care Partnership: rather than wanting to assist and support patients, it seems determined to make it as difficult as possible for them to get the help they need. I am fortunate in that I can use technology comfortably but I pity those patients who are less confident or do not have access to PCs or smartphones. They certainly won't find anyone willing to help them at Belmont Hill Surgery any more. Avoid.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, we’re genuinely sorry for the frustration and upset you’ve experienced. We understand how disappointing it must be to feel that the level of care and service has declined, especially as a long-standing patient of the practice. Difficulty accessing appointments, particularly when you're doing all the right things calling at 8am, trying the NHS App and Patient Access, and even visiting the practice in person is understandably disheartening. We're also very sorry that your experience with the reception team left you feeling dismissed and unsupported. Our staff are expected to treat all patients with respect and courtesy, and it’s clear that we fell short during your visit. Your concerns about digital access are particularly important, and we agree that not all patients are able or comfortable navigating technology to manage their healthcare. We are working on improving both access routes and the consistency of the information given to patients including better guidance around when and how appointments become available. We’re grateful that you’ve raised these issues, and we want to assure you that your feedback will be shared with the relevant teams so we can work to improve both the accessibility of appointments and the quality of patient interactions. Review titled Rude and unprofessional staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 June 2024
I booked and an appoitment and i got a reminder the day before when i arrive the reception said the appoitment was cancelled a week ago. Despite i showed the evidence of text message reminder she continue to tell me the appoitment was cancelled. I understand that mistake can happen and system error occurs but she could show a bit more emphathy and at least offer me an apologies.... Bearing in mind that it wasnt my fault and i had to request a day off at work but of course noone think about it. Also, to note that if the appoitment was cancelled a week ago because the nurse is sick they have plenty of time to find a cover. I never had a good experience with this surgery and i can see that there is a real problem that needs to be considered by NHS as most of the patients complain daily.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we're very sorry for the inconvenience and upset this situation caused you. We understand how frustrating it must have been to take time off work and attend the practice, only to be told your appointment was cancelled especially when you'd received a reminder confirming it was still booked. You're absolutely right that, while mistakes and system errors can happen, you should have been met with more empathy and a sincere apology at the very least. Your point about communication and cover when staff are absent is well made, and we’re sorry this wasn’t managed better in your case. We’re reviewing how we notify patients of any changes to appointments and how we support our reception team to respond in a more understanding and professional manner when issues arise. Thank you again for your feedback it highlights real concerns that we take seriously. Kind regards Complaints Hub The Lewisham Care Partnership

Review titled Rude admin staff on phone booking
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 May 2024
I used to be able to book appointments online for this practice, since they joined a 'lewisham care partnership' you can only book online for locations far away elsewhere in Lewisham. I rang and waited on hold for 30 minutes to speak to a human, they only offer a single appointment time, which I wasn't able to do it. I asked to book another time, they say do not book far that ahead. When you ask how long ahead they do book, they say "It varies" and hang up.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback, and we’re really sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve experienced trying to book an appointment. We understand how frustrating it must be to no longer have access to online booking for your usual practice and then face long wait times and unclear responses when calling instead. This isn’t the level of service we want to provide, and we apologise for the inconvenience and poor experience you’ve had. Your comments have been shared with our team, as it’s important we improve both the clarity of our booking processes and the consistency of how information is given to patients. We're also continuing to work on improving access, including the functionality of online booking options where possible. Thank you again for raising this with us.
