Review titled Healthcare at Bellhouse
Rated 1 star out of 5

I’ve been a patient at this practice for several years, and unfortunately my experience has consistently been frustrating. Communication is poor, and even when I follow the correct procedures — such as providing requested information through the online form — it’s often missed or ignored. Recently, I submitted a request for a repeat of my regular medication, including all the information they asked for. The request was denied entirely even when I spoke to the receptionist they said there wasn't anything they could do as the doctor feels it's not required. This happened just as I was preparing to move to a new area, and I clearly explained the urgency to avoid a gap in treatment — but there was no flexibility or understanding at all. I’ve previously raised a formal complaint about how I’ve been treated, and the response I received was incredibly dismissive, essentially telling me I should be “grateful” for having had appointments in the first place. That kind of attitude is unacceptable when patients are simply trying to access basic care. I will say that there are a couple of GPs at this practice who are kind, thorough, and supportive — and who don’t make you feel like you have to fight to be heard. Unfortunately, those positive experiences are rare.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. My name is Mel Quinn and I am the Practice Manager. I do apologise for your bad experiences and the upset this has caused you. The treatment you have received is not acceptable and I will take this to the Partners Practice Meeting to ensure they are aware of the difficulty patients face with medication when moving areas or surgery. Any complaint is taken seriously and I do apologise that you feel the response to your previous one was dismissive, if you are still in the area I would be happy to meet you to discuss this, my contact details are 01582 817190 or bhmc.pm.bellhouse@nhs.net. I apologise again for your bad and upsetting experience Kind regards Mel Quinn Practice Manager

Review titled Worst practice, Doubting the credibility of Doctor at Bellhouse GP Surgery, Luton
by Anonymous - Posted on 18 March 2025
I’m 35 weeks pregnant and allergic to NSAID drug and visited the GP surgery yesterday due to severe cold, cough, and throat ache, Doctor was very rude to me and was in too much hurry that she didn’t even bothered to listen to my concerns clear and even after saying I’m 35 weeks pregnant and allergic to NSAID drug, she was so neglectful that she gave me medication which clearly”Difflam Spray” and asked to take paracetamol and use the spray. The Difflam Spray in its information leaflet has clearly mentioned a warning sign to not prescribe for patients allergic to NSAID drug and for pregnant women in her last 3 months of pregnancy as it can harm unborn child. Attaching the details which I found in the information leaflet of “Difflam Spray” Warnings and precautions: Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before using Difflam Spray: • If you have a history of asthma • If you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drugs Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Do not take Difflam Spray if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy as it could harm your unborn child or cause problems at delivery. It can cause kidney and heart problems in your unborn baby. It may affect your and your baby’s tendency to bleed and cause labour to be later or longer than expected. I don’t no how can a doctor be so impatient to play with a patients life even after mentioning both the things of being allergic and pregnant Doctor gave medication which could harm both me and my child. I doubt the credibility of doctors at Bellhouse GP surgery now and thinking of Doctors being so negligent about patients health is horrible. If I haven’t checked the warning signs before using the Difflam Spray it would have costed my life as my allergy is severe where my face, throat gets swollen just after 4 to 5 mins of taking any medication with NSAID drugs. Expecting the Health service will improve in future and I need not to doubt the credibility and knowledge of Doctors working in NHS.

today i had gone to the gp with my daughter as she has had a bad rash for a long time however the doctor had seen us and said that we have wasted alot of appointments and she was very rude as she kept talking over me,she looked at my daughters arm in a very rough way and said she cannot see any rash,my daughter was very uncomfortable ,this doctor should have owed a duty of care to my daughter and should of been more reasonable i was not happy with the way she has treated me and my daughter, i will not be booking any more appointments with her
