  1. Review titled Poor experience

My GP suggested I contact this practice for my travel jab needs, so I completed and submitted a travel risk assessment on 27th May detailing exactly which travel jabs that my GP instructed me to get before travel. It took 10 days and 3 chaser calls (all of which I spoke to a very friendly member of staff) to get confirmation that I need a consultation and to call to book an appointment. I called immediately to book and was told there was only one appointment between 13th June and 17th July available, so I booked that. I then became concerned as from my own research I found out that one of my vaccines required 3 jabs over the course of 3 weeks, and the appointment they offered me would not allow for this before I my departure date. I called up to enquire, and this time spoke to a different member of staff to the one I had spoken to previously. They said that the travel nurse knows what they are doing and will have left enough time. I tried to explain that I didn't think it was enough time and I was worried, but the person on the phone was dismissive and repeated that they know what they are doing. So I agreed to keep the appointment. They then called me back, and said that in fact it may be best to go elsewhere and when I said yes I didn't think the appointment date allowed enough time, the lady on the phone said 'well you can go somewhere else then' and hung up. I am quite upset about this treatment as I was at no point rude, and I followed all procedures required to get the travel vaccinations I needed. Not only this, but the two weeks I have spent trying to organise my travel vaccines with this clinic has been wasted and now I have to scramble to get the vaccines I need in time for my trip. I do not believe that my travel risk assessment was properly reviewed at any point by staff, as they would have known that I'd need a course of 3 vaccinations before my departure and told me sooner that they would not be able to provide this. Being hung up on is always shocking and unnecessary, and was the final straw that pushed me into writing this review.

  2. Review titled Kind, efficient, excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have been with Beeches Green Surgery, Stroud for some 25 years. It is a large practice, the large team of doctors include a range of specialisms and there are several other medical staff (nurses, pharmacist specialists, etc. The several administrative and reception staff are busy but always friendly, helpful, efficient and caring. It never takes long to get through when telephoning. Everyone seems kindly, most professional and to ‘go the extra mile’. Although the waiting room frequently seems busy, getting appointments is not a problem: of course there are waits if it is not an urgent matter, but I have always had speedy help in an emergency. Their record-keeping and use of computers is impressive - the practice was early in taking on these technologies and seems to have maintained very high standards on that front. Two years ago I had symptoms that lead to very quick responses, with emergency blood transfusions and referrals for in-depth investigations, identifying colon cancer and major surgery - all successfully progressed without undue delays. A diversity of other medical problems over the years, some of them serious, have similarly been appropriately dealt with. The practice has long-established connections with other local NHS services (eg physiotherapy, podiatry, also pharmacies). Referrals to Gloucester Royal and Cheltenham General hospitals are speedy, with good on-going communications between them, in recent times greatly enhanced by reciprocal internet access. I have no personal connections with any members of Beeches Green staff, but warmly and gratefully recommend them to anyone looking for high quality on-going medical care. Many of my friends and neighbours are registered with this practice and frequently speak positively and appreciatively of the care they receive there. It is deservedly popular, so the only problem may be finding registration with them could mean waiting.

  4. Review titled Brilliant GP

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My father had been diagnosed with a UTI and was on anti biotics. His health continued to decline and a lovely young GP attended who is nearing the end of her training. She had a great bedside manner and was very thorough with her examination. My father was reluctant to go to hospital and she was very sympathetic to his wishes. My father had some blood tests done and the results came back later that evening and they indicated he needed to be in hospital as soon as possible and an ambulance attended. The GP has also contacted us since my father's admission to hospital to see how he is. I cannot praise this GP highly enough as if she had not been so thorough my father would not have received the emergency treatment he needed.

  5. Review titled Amazing practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have been with Beeches Green for a long time and I have always found them kind, patient and knowledgeable. From one GP calling me to check in after a traumatic event as he knew I wouldn’t be coping well years ago, to today when another listened, heard and made my life better in terms of post surgical issues, they’ve been so brilliant. Another newer GP has always been incredibly supportive whenever I’ve gone to him to discuss issues (and cried a lot!) and I trust them implicitly. All the GPs I’ve seen have been so lovely to me and they’ve recently fought for information for me when I’ve been struggling with endometriosis and surgery. I’m very grateful to everyone for the immense support they have provided and will continue to provide to me and also to my child. It makes me feel a lot better knowing that I have them to speak to if there’s urgent issues arising as I know they’ll take me seriously. Highly recommend this practice.
