    What happened to ringing up for an appointment? They make you fill an online form out and they will consider seeing or they will merely diagnose you online via your symptoms. On 14th May 2025, the GP advised my husband to fill an online form in. The doctor at the surgery diagnosed my husband online within minutes without even seeing him or speaking to him. He misdiagnosed him and as such, he fell very ill. They finally gave him an appointment on 19th May 2025 after begging for an appointment. How can a “doctor” diagnose somebody based on their perceived symptoms without seeing them, triaging or speaking to them? I can honestly say the system this GP has in place is atrocious and it does not work! It’s an easy way of fobbing off instead of providing the care that people need. Face to face contact is an absolute must when in need of care however you have to beg for an appointment at this GP and even then, they will still advise you to fill an online form in. This GP falls massively below the standards of that of a reasonable and competent medical practice

    Used to be terrible, but since getting the anima system working they are accessible and responsive. Got a prescription with an hour.

    I had a bad experience at the surgery last week and i left the surgery. The practice manager contacted me the next day and asked me why I was upset I told her and she booked me another appointment right away I had that appointment the doctor was lovely and they treated me with so much care I would highly recommend this practice I have been with them for many years and never had a problem I now have a plan in place to help with my condition they have neem very professional .

    My husband has been receiving care from this practice since he was diagnosed with cancer in 2022. The care he has recieved and still receiving is exemplary. Every single member of staff from the receptionists to the gp has gone above and beyond to make a very difficult journey a lot more bearable. Nothing has been too much trouble for them and everything we've needed we have received. The staff have all been caring and compassionate and we as a family cannot thank them enough. One of the gps has kept in contact with us, done a home visit and has made sure we have everything we need. He has reassured us and made us feel supported, he has made us feel like we're not alone and that they are there to help. I can't recommend this practice highly enough.

    This Practice uses an on line Chanel called Anima, which is ok for straight forward requests but not very useful if your problem is slightly out of the norm.I submitted a particular request that was and remains of huge significance to me , but was unable through this system to discuss my issues with an appropriate clinician, which was disappointing and frustrating , the only advice being to resubmit on the same system the samerequest-an inconvenient and no particularly helpful outcome . It goes without saying that if you cannot navigate the internet for whatever reason it is of no use in my opinion

    Monday mornings are dreaded by all in need of a G.P. I hated being told I was number 25 in a telephone queue, then arguing with a receptionist about an appointment. Swapped Surgery to the only one in my area offering a computer, triage service managed by a senior G.P. Yesterday morning, it took me six minutes to fill in a simple online form that a 78 year old could understand. Received a telephone call 90 minutes later offering a G.P. appointment one hour and a half hours later. After a chest examination, I was put on antibiotics. Amazing, fast diagnosis and treatment. In my opinion, old fashioned Family Doctors can't match the express service provided by Beech Tree Surgery.

    Using the Anima service this morning I was offered an appointment to see an Advanced Care Practitioner. He was thorough, thoughtful and professional in his approach, and I had every confidence in his care. The receptionist who phoned to make the appointment was kind and sympathetic. This is not the first time I have used Anima and each time I have been impressed by the way my requests have been responded to. Thank you.

    I needed some medication that was not included in my repeat list. I requested it on the online service just after 8.00am, an auto reply came up immediately acknowledging my request saying it may take 2 -3 days to respond but then at 8.20am the surgery responded saying they had prescribed the requested meds and it was ready to collect at pharmacy - how good is that! The online system was easy to use and as well as asking very relevant questions it had space for me to describe my problem and what outcome I was seeking which I found particularly helpful. An altogether excellent service that quickly and easily got me exactly what I needed even faster that I could have hoped for as an octogenarian with very poor computer skills. Very many thanks.

    The Riccall branch of this surgery seems to be slowly shutting down, reducing services offered. There is never a doctor on site and only occasionally a nurse or healthcare assistant. On the whole, I have found reception staff at Riccall friendly but unable to help with even simple queries. On trying to collect a prescription today I was advised it’s not there. It’s required over the weekend. I did try to collect earlier in the week but the practice was closed due to staff shortages. The receptionist was unable to put a request on the system for a prescription to be issued to selby for my husband to collect later, and simply said there was nothing she could do and we’d have to contact the selby branch. I’m currently number fifteen in a queue and have already been on hold for fifteen minutes. It’s far from an ideal use of my morning.

Regarding your concerns about service availability, we are actively working to improve the coverage and support at our branch sites. While we currently have limited clinical presence at Riccall, we are in the process of reviewing our service structure to ensure that we can offer consistent and accessible care across all our sites. I apologise if this has made it seem as though services are being reduced, alongside unavoidable staff shortage. In relation to your recent visit to collect a prescription, I’m sorry that you faced inconvenience and were unable to receive assistance as expected. We strive to ensure that all our staff are equipped to handle patient queries effectively. I will address this with the team to ensure that alternative solutions are offered when immediate assistance isn’t available at one of our branches. Your feedback about the call wait times is also noted. We are continuously working on improving our phone system and response times to reduce the burden on our patients.
