  1. Review titled Difficulty rebooking my appointment after surgery cancelled

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Molly Taylor - Posted on 26 February 2025

Had a recall appointment booked. Had previously explained the urgency as am going to Cornwall again on 5.3.25 to look after daughter in Cornwall during her cancer treatment. Managed to obtain an appointment at long last as despite supposed to have yearly checks due to cancer in the past, these were not happening. So pleased at last to receive a recall appointment. Tried to rebook this morning but unable to accommodate before the 5th even though they had cancelled my appointment. Been told to call once I come back from Cornwall, even though, I don’t know how long I will need to support my daughter. Basically I have received no health checks for such a long time! And feel I need too. Why whenever I have needed to seek an appointment which has been so infrequently as I try and deal with things myself! Do I have problems?

  2. Review titled Frustration with appointment system

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Claire Hodgson - Posted on 06 February 2024

I had a face to face appointment cancelled yesterday ( 04/02/2024) due to GP illness , I was told to call the surgery to re schedule , this I did and was told to call back at 2pm , At 2pm I called back and was 14 in the queue , after holding for 30 minutes I reached the receptionist and promptly got cut off !!! I’ve been in to the surgery this morning to try and book a new appointment, my appointment was for quite an urgent reason, however the very unsympathetic receptionist said they were unable to deal with my request as my consultant hasn’t officially requested it ( I’ve found out that the request has been sent but by snail mail ,) But I’d already booked my appointment and was told that my request was possible , I now have a telephone appointment for 7th March !!! My point is why when your appointment is cancelled are you not given priority for a new one ?

  3. Review titled Rude receptionist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Stephen Craddock - Posted on 06 January 2024

Receptionist rude and abrupt. Surely a Receptionist should have some kind of compassion! I'm 59 and haven't seen a doctor for a long time. My experience has put me off going to see a doctor let alone phoning for an appointment. I'm sure the doctors at this surgery are great, however getting passed the Receptionist is very harrowing in my experience.

  4. Review titled Great GP Doctors but unfortunate reception staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 January 2024

I have been with this GP practice since 2018 with my daughters were born. The GP doctors are fantastic. They are very friendly and compassionate and quick to action if anything is needed. I really feel they remember and follow up on previous appointments and do everything they can to help when needed. Patient access is fantastic as you can see the doctors notes after appointments and they are very quick to submit these. All the nurses for blood tests that I have dealt with have also been fantastic, friendly and overall making the experience of blood tests easier. Unfortunately, it’s the reception staff who let them down. You are either greeted with a friendly kind voice, woman or you will be greeted with the second woman, who clearly wants you off the phone, has no compassion and your left feeling like the reason you’re calling isn’t valid or that you have done something wrong. They underwent changes to how the telephones worked last year and possibly some staff training as somethings did improve but it seems to come back again with this one receptionist. When I phone the doctors, I know which receptionist I will have just by the tone of voice of hello. When you go into the doctors, sometimes you are ignored by the receptionist and it looks like one lady will do anything to avoid eye contact with you until she is ready. It would be nice to be acknowledged or even said “just one moment” instead of being left feeling uncomfortable or a burden. I understand they are probably very busy a little bit of politeness goes a massive way, especially in a GP surgery when somebody maybe having problems and not feeling their best. It really is 50:50 on how your experience will go by who is on the reception. One of the little thing that might be helpful to add is, they do not have any children’s toys or books so if you have a young child, it may be worth bringing something to keep them entertained encase they’re running behind.

  5. Review titled Lovely receptionist

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Emmanuel Padilla - Posted on 16 August 2023

I am really grateful for a doctor's call on the very day I went to get an appointment. Thanks to the good advice I received on the phone I was able to take the right course of action without having to get increasingly stressed waiting. But I am particularly happy with the kind receptionist (she knows who she is) who showed real understanding and did her very best for me. It meant a lot to me to not only receive a good efficient service but also with kindness and a lovely smile.
