  1. Review titled Frustration with appointment system

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Claire Hodgson - Posted on 06 February 2024

I had a face to face appointment cancelled yesterday ( 04/02/2024) due to GP illness , I was told to call the surgery to re schedule , this I did and was told to call back at 2pm , At 2pm I called back and was 14 in the queue , after holding for 30 minutes I reached the receptionist and promptly got cut off !!! I’ve been in to the surgery this morning to try and book a new appointment, my appointment was for quite an urgent reason, however the very unsympathetic receptionist said they were unable to deal with my request as my consultant hasn’t officially requested it ( I’ve found out that the request has been sent but by snail mail ,) But I’d already booked my appointment and was told that my request was possible , I now have a telephone appointment for 7th March !!! My point is why when your appointment is cancelled are you not given priority for a new one ?

  2. Review titled Rude receptionist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Stephen Craddock - Posted on 06 January 2024

Receptionist rude and abrupt. Surely a Receptionist should have some kind of compassion! I'm 59 and haven't seen a doctor for a long time. My experience has put me off going to see a doctor let alone phoning for an appointment. I'm sure the doctors at this surgery are great, however getting passed the Receptionist is very harrowing in my experience.

Dear Stephen Craddock Thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience and are sorry that you feel you have not been dealt with compassionately. We will listen and discuss the call with the receptionist involved. Please contact the surgery directly if you wish to make a complaint.

  3. Review titled Great GP Doctors but unfortunate reception staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 January 2024

I have been with this GP practice since 2018 with my daughters were born. The GP doctors are fantastic. They are very friendly and compassionate and quick to action if anything is needed. I really feel they remember and follow up on previous appointments and do everything they can to help when needed. Patient access is fantastic as you can see the doctors notes after appointments and they are very quick to submit these. All the nurses for blood tests that I have dealt with have also been fantastic, friendly and overall making the experience of blood tests easier. Unfortunately, it’s the reception staff who let them down. You are either greeted with a friendly kind voice, woman or you will be greeted with the second woman, who clearly wants you off the phone, has no compassion and your left feeling like the reason you’re calling isn’t valid or that you have done something wrong. They underwent changes to how the telephones worked last year and possibly some staff training as somethings did improve but it seems to come back again with this one receptionist. When I phone the doctors, I know which receptionist I will have just by the tone of voice of hello. When you go into the doctors, sometimes you are ignored by the receptionist and it looks like one lady will do anything to avoid eye contact with you until she is ready. It would be nice to be acknowledged or even said “just one moment” instead of being left feeling uncomfortable or a burden. I understand they are probably very busy a little bit of politeness goes a massive way, especially in a GP surgery when somebody maybe having problems and not feeling their best. It really is 50:50 on how your experience will go by who is on the reception. One of the little thing that might be helpful to add is, they do not have any children’s toys or books so if you have a young child, it may be worth bringing something to keep them entertained encase they’re running behind.

  4. Review titled Lovely receptionist

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I am really grateful for a doctor's call on the very day I went to get an appointment. Thanks to the good advice I received on the phone I was able to take the right course of action without having to get increasingly stressed waiting. But I am particularly happy with the kind receptionist (she knows who she is) who showed real understanding and did her very best for me. It meant a lot to me to not only receive a good efficient service but also with kindness and a lovely smile.

  5. Review titled Rude receptionists

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 December 2022

From the day my son was born in 2016 right up until now the receptionists have been unsympathetic, rude, blunt and unhelpful. I have walked out of there many times quietly crying because of how the receptionist are. I understand we are in a difficult time with the NHS at the moment, but have some of sympathy and show abit of willing to at least help.

  6. Review titled Rude receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Gail Johnson - Posted on 13 December 2022

I had a nurses appointment booked for Monday 12th December which was cancelled on Friday 9th December at a short notice due to sickness no alternative appointment was made I was asked to ring bedgrove surgery to arrange another appointment which I did. Receptionist told me there were no appointments available till middle of January which was not acceptable as this appointment was well over due. The Receptionist put a request for the head nurse to ring me on Monday but as I had not heard anything by the afternoon I called in. The rude receptionist who looked up as though she could not be bothered told me I should be contacting my own surgery Wendover when the text came from them. As usual one does not know what the other is doing no communication and as a result I ended up tripping on a kerb in a hurry and have now a fracture on ribcage. I rang my surgery and got a very pleasant receptionist who straight away helped me get a nurses appointment what a difference to the one on bedgrove thank god its not my surgery I certainly never want to go back there again until they have been taught some customer service in doing their job to the general public and knowing how to treat people with respect instead of being so rude. I don't ever expect to hear from the nurse either as clearly cannot be bothered.

  7. Review titled A covid death trap

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Andrew - Posted on 04 October 2022

In the middle of a Covid wave, no Covid precautions whatsoever to protect patients and staff. No ventilation (windows closed), reception staff not in masks, most patients not wearing masks, one coughing violently and complaining of Covid symptoms, and a long wait in these deathtrap conditions. A complete failure of clinical responsibility to patients!

  8. Review titled Terrible Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Dave - Posted on 23 May 2022

I am a local resident that has experienced the declining level of service at this practice over many years. I have also now tried to leave a review for the last 4 weeks. Here are the reasons; 1. It is difficult to get an appointment to see a doctor. On my attempts recently, the phones were not answered, the online booking system was not friendly, and availability is usually at best multiple weeks ahead. 2. When you do get an appointment the waiting time is usually over an hour based on my experiences. 3. Staff are rude, often bordering on hostile and do not treat patients consistently with respect or compassion. I have been spoken to quite rudely by reception and management staff. I also witnessed other patients being dealt with very rudely, including some quite elderly, during my wait. It didn't make for pleasant listening.
