Review titled Compassion Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Melody Takaidza - Posted on 26 January 2025
I phoned later in the morning asking to see a GP, was asked to complete online form explaining my situation and completed that. I got the response and booked to see the GP. The GP was patient and took time listen to my problem and examined me and did few quick test. I felt reassured and cared for. Then sign post me to book the blood tests for further tests.

Review titled Helpful

I completed an online request and was contacted the same day. I was asked to make an appointment and was sent a link to do this, no waiting in a phone queue. So that was great for me. Making an appointment was a positive experience for me but I do worry about others who do not feel confident in contacting the survey in the way I did. I know the frustration of waiting in a queue on the phone.

Second shingles vaccination done this week. The practice nurse was courteous, I waited only a few minutes beyond my appointment time, the vaccination was virtually pain free.

Review titled Rubbish appointment system
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Susan Henn - Posted on 05 December 2024
I contacted the surgery online last Friday as I had been told by a consultant that I should see my GP. As it was not urgent I thought online would be the most suitable. I requested to see a named GP as she had referred me to the consultant in the first place. It took five days to receive a text reply offering me an appointment with a different GP. As I had requested a particular GP I phoned up and being in the queue I opted for the callback. Some four hours later (I was 27 in the queue ) i phoned again and was 7 in the queue so held on. I explained to the person who answered the call and requested an appointment with the named GP and apparently the first available appointment is 16 days away. I accepted this because I don't think seeing a different doctor would be very helpful in this case. The whole system seems to be in complete disarray. I have had many problems in the past trying to get an appointment and last year I was really ill in hospital which need not have happened in my opinion. The old system of a proper receptionist making appointments was much better and the NHS in general places too much faith in IT. It has a place but is only as good as the human operating the system.

Review titled Disappointing visit
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mark Ratcliffe - Posted on 21 December 2024
Normally, the experiences I've had have been excellent. Yesterday was not one of those, although it started well with an efficient online appointment with an advanced clinician at a time which suited me. The purpose of the visit was to have a prescription for a Ventolin inhaler, which I've had prescribed in the past. I'd had a cold which had left me with a condition where my chest was tight and my right lung airwaves narrow. This results in coughing as my lungs capacity is impaired. I've had this condition since I've been a child, so I'm familiar with the symptoms when this occurs and how this can be managed. So, the advance clinician sounded my chest with a stethoscope, both back and front and then came back to me and said my chest is clear and that I had a virol infection. Now I have to agree with the fact that my left lung is clear and I do not have a wheeze. Whilst, I have no wheeze, my breathing pattern is different and it feels very uncomfortable. Despite telling the advanced clinician of what I've described above and the fact this was effecting both how I sleep and having to get up during the night because my chest tightens, he refused to give me an inhaler and said for a viral infection, it would not help and could not prescribe. He also added my cough could continue for up to 3-4weeks. I tried to explain the cough was a result of my narrowing airwaves, but he wasn't interested. In the past I explained I have used the inhaler which in it's own description relaxes the muscles and opens up the airwaves, this has always worked and given me relief, when I've needed to use it on rare occasions. This made no difference to him and I left. Again last night I needlessly lost a further two hours sleep through coughing and discomfort which could have been avoided. I can only conclude that the advanced clinician, either didn't value what I was saying or didn't believe me. What I do know is that with my condition, is that the inhaler does give relief for the condition I have and to say otherwise is untrue.

Thank you for your attention and compassion and help. Everything went extremely smoothly and the doctor was very attentive, we made an action plan and now I am sure that my child will be helped.

Review titled Best shared care, supportive and caring
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 21 December 2024
All of the staff including the doctors, nurses and pharmacists are absolutely excellent. They’re always very caring and supportive, but what I particularly like is that they respect my knowledge and understanding of my rare eye condition and allow me to be part of my treatment plan along with my doctors and consultants at Oxford Eye Hospital. Shared care at it’s absolutely best. Highly recommended.

Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Recently had to contact the surgery for an appointment due to feeling unwell with a chest infection along with asthma. Got an immediate appointment and this was also followed up with another appointment and I can't fault the service or the doctor I saw. Was given medication and was followed up with compassion and care. This has made the whole process stress free especially when you feel vulnerable and ill. I also saw the same doctor on each visit which I also think is a big advantage. I used both the booking service online and also speaking to the receptionists at the surgery and I have no complaints about either of these options. I was even asked by one of the receptionists how I was now feeling after asking for a follow up appointment, she seemed genuinely interested in how I was feeling and booked the appointment for me. My whole experience has been stress free which when you are unwell is so needed. Thank you Banbury Cross Health Centre.
