    The medical staff were inefficient, most of the receptionists were dismissive. The tone and attitude I received were completely unprofessional, the booking system is chaotic. It felt like they were doing everything possible to block access to care rather than help. I am not willing to tolerate this, so I’ve moved to another practice rightaway, where patients are treated with respect and urgency—something Avonside clearly lacks. I will actively encourage everyone I can to avoid this practice.

    Dear Anonymous, We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with your experience at Avonside Health Centre. Our appointment system changed in June 2024 to a triage based system to allow appointments to be provided based on clinical. All appointment requests are triaged by a GP and go through the same system whether submitted online (from 08:00 on working days) or via the telephone line (from 08:30 on working days for those without internet access). This system has allowed us to see more patients and improve access for all patients. We recently completed an appropriate appointment audit which demonstrated how effective the new system has been since launching. It is important to receive detailed feedback so we can investigate and allow opportunity to improve and address concerns.     I found contacting online really easy, Doctor was extremely helpful, suggested an appointment, excellent service from checking in, Doctor was very thorough, left happy & reassured

    Very helpful lady on reception completed online form for me. Received a phone call very shortly after offering me an appointment that morning. Seen by a young lady doctor who was very gentle, nice and professional. She prescribed painkillers and referred me for surgery. Would recommend Avonside Health Centre.

    Very difficult to get face to face appointments. Told to ring next day but same message - no appointments . Not everyone has access to internet or able to use mobile apps

    Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear you're having difficulty booking a face to face appointment. Since September 2022, most of our appointments have moved back to face to face following Covid-19 as we know our patients prefer to be seen face to face rather than over the phone. In June, we moved to a new GP appointment system in which all appointment requests are triaged by a GP. Patients can submit a medical request from 08:00 each working day via the website or NHS app. Admin requests can be submitted at any time, any day. If a patient does not have access to the internet, we advise patients to give us a call and our Patient Coordinators can process the request on behalf of the patient. The team will ask several questions to obtain as much information to enable to GP to triage appropriately. We moved to this new triage system to enable equal access to appointments based on clinical need to ensure appointments are being used appropriately. This system also means those who are not first in the phone queue at 08:30 each day are not disadvantaged. Even with the recent changes, there is still a daily capacity of requests to ensure we are working safely. If routine requests are at capacity but patients believe their request is urgent and cannot wait until the next working day, they are advised to call us so we can process an urgent request on their behalf to be triaged by the duty GP.     I have been suffering from shortness of breath and have received excellent care, thorough examinations. I felt that the gps were caring and sympathetic and I’m grateful to them both for their patience and understanding

    Requested and was given a same day appointment. Receptionist was helpful and efficient and also advised that the system for booking appointments would be moving online next month. Although doctor was running a little late she was still very thorough, pleasant and helpful.
