  1. Review titled Not confidential

Rated 1 star out of 5

I went to reception today to collect a sick note. The receptionist asked what it was that I was collecting. I did not want to say because there was someone on the queue who I knew but I did not want them to know that I was off work on sick leave. The receptionist was annoyed that I would not say that it was a sick note even after I pointed out that I was not in a private area and did not want to discuss confidential information in a public area. I was not trying to be awkward but she really needs to understand that patients may not want everyone in the queue knowing their business.

  2. Review titled Awful practice

Non clinical staff need training so they don't unconsciously and unintentionally discriminate. Need to stop giving out contradicting advice and be responsible and be accountable table for their errors and mistakes.

  3. Review titled Excellent practice

Phoned today as I had found a lump in my breast, within an hour, I had had a telephone appointment with a Doctor followed up with a consultation and examination in person. The treatment and care I have received was second to none and I cannot thank the team, from the receptionist to the doctor, highly enough. I know GPs are under pressure at the moment but the care I received today, and at other times when I have needed them, have been exemplary

  4. Review titled Excellent practice

The practice has been helping me with my health issues for 7 years now, I always get an appointment and have done throughout Covid either face 2 face or over the phone. The reception staff are generally helpful and I’ve never had issues with them triaging my symptoms. As we moved out of Covid I’ve been able to ask for f2f or telephone consultations as I’ve deemed necessary for my health and never been questioned or dictated to on which one I have to have. My GP is excellent and consistently helps me to understand my symptoms where they can and if not directs me to consultants that will be able to help. They always go above and beyond their job role calling me in the evening at times just to pass on test result findings. Thank you to all the staff for your continued support in what has been a difficult 7 years.

  5. Review titled No answer

Rated 1 star out of 5

Phoned for test results this afternoon and was in the queue for such a long time. Went on the website to find out it is your training afternoon. Would help if you had a voicemail message letting patients know this instead of wasting my time hanging on in a queue for a call that it never going to be answered. My time is just as valuable as yours yet you seem to think it is ok to let me waste my time in this way.

  6. Review titled Great doctors practice

Always manage to get an appointment for my infant son. The doctors are great: through and unrushed during appointments . Sometimes difficult to get through to reception though.

  7. Review titled Two appointments when one should do

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2023

I phoned last week for a face to face appointment. The receptionist told me that the reason for my appointment did not need a face to face appointment and that I could only have a telephone appointment. I insisted that the doctor would need to see me and that I needed a face to face appointment but this was refused so I had to sit in for six hours and await the phone call. This is totally unacceptable as I work and this means I cannot take calls or make visits or attend meetings whilst waiting for the call. When the call came the doctor said that he really needed to see me and had to book another face to face appointment. I said that I had asked for a face to face appointment but one had been refused. The doctor clearly did not like me saying this. This resulted in me taking two appointments for one medical issue and this is not the first time this has happened. Most of my telephone consultations result in me having to have a face to face appointment which means taking double the appointments that are required at a time when it is already difficult to get an appointment. The surgery says they are under a lot of pressure but you are causing this pressure by doubling up patients appointments. You encouraged patients to get the Covid vaccines so we could return to normal yet doctors surgeries are the only places that have not returned to normal. Even hospitals are back to normal so why are you still running the practice this way? Now is the time to get back to normal and create more appointments by reducing the amount of double appointments you create.

  8. Review titled Poor

Phoned today for test results, started off as 5th in the queue. Got down to 1st in the queue after 90 minutes (at 3pm) but had to hang up as I had a physio appointment. Phoned back after physio appointment and got recorded message saying surgery was closed for training. Clearly this was the reason I did not get through earlier and that someone had forgot to put the right answer phone message on. Maybe do some training on how to change the answerphone message so that patients are not inconvenienced. Also your website says to phone for test results after 11am but when you phone the message says to phone after 1pm - one of these needs updating.

Dear Patient Thank you for the feedback. We did have issues with the telephone message on our recent training afternoon and several calls where stuck in the system, these did get answered by a member of the practice team when this came to light. I am sorry for any inconvenience this caused to you and others on 12 January. We have discussed this with our supplier and our management team to ensure that this doesn't happen in the future. Our website is still under development as its still in its infancy, information of the new website has been moved across from the old. The test request times will be reviewed and updated, thank you for highlighting this issue. Test results can be viewed online via one of the patient access apps if you wish to sign up to this service, please contact a member of the Practice team this can be done via the website https://www.ashworthstreetsurgeryrochdale.co.uk/clinics-and-services/online-services/register-for-online-services/ If you wish to discuss this further, please do contact the Practice and ask for myself. Kind regards Lisa Mitchell - Practice Operations Manager

  9. Review titled Now an urgent care centre?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 January 2023

Every time I phone for an appointment I am asked for the reason and if the receptionist thinks the reason is not urgent she will not let me have an appointment. My condition should not have to deteriorate until it is a matter of urgency before I can see a doctor as this is still a GP surgery and not an urgent care centre.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on the services we offer. Our receptionists are trained care navigators and will ask patients the reason for the appointment, this enables them to signpost to the most appropriate service or clinician. If you would like to email the Practice either via our website https://www.ashworthstreetsurgeryrochdale.co.uk/have-your-say/ or via email gmicb-hmr.ashworthstreetsurgery@nhs.net with your details this will allow us to listen to the calls and assist you further in your query. 10. Review titled Can never get through

Rated 1 star out of 5

Been trying to get an appointment all week to no avail. Appointments online are for either telephone or Norden surgery but both weeks away which isn’t good enough. I can see others have struggled and the practice manager has given excuses relating to the past and not acknowledging failures now. Fail to see why staff aren’t answering the phone in under an hour and while there are appts online they are for next month. Not convenient. I’m going to try one more time tomorrow and hopefully someone will answer promptly and I’ll get an appt. I can see that others are struggling with the surgery too so it’s a shame nothing is being done other than comments being swept under the carpet and forgotten. I can only assume people who manage to get appts are people who don’t work and have time to sit and wait for someone to answer the phone. I also have not witnessed the so called call back service or more appointments than ever being offered. Let’s see what happens tomorrow.
