  1. Review titled Unacceptable and highly unprofessional

Rated 1 star out of 5

Such a shame the reception staff let the doctors down . I rang up to date after filling out an online consultation form on Wednesday morning , received a text Thursday evening 6pm asking me to contact surgery so rang them today which is Friday first thing . I needed my 2 year old to be seen who’s poorly I was told next available appointment is next Thursday that 8 days after filling out a consultation form that should really get u an appointment within 48 hrs . Funny how u follow all the procedures and policy but the practice not capable of doing the same . I mentioned my child is poorly needs to be seen before then I was told to go to walk in centre or wait till next week , I mean come on my child illness isn’t going to wait I’ve asked for him to be seen for a reason . Nowadays I get pure anxiety even requesting an appointment it’s unbelievably nerve wracking and the person ur met with at the other end of the line is so so rude and obnoxious makes u want to cry literally. I explained to reception I can’t go walk in as I have two under two I was told we’ll gp isn’t for emergencies… lack of sheer compassion and then I was told to be quiet and listen in such a nasty assertive manner . I really give up with this surgery … making a 2 year old wait 8 days before he is seen is not acceptable and just not right … I will have to take him a n e or walk in . Looks like we’re asking for too much these days and kindness has just gone down the pan .

  2. Review titled Practice and patients

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have been critical of the practice for not involving patients enough in decisions. We make the decisions and you have no say in the matter . That always creates animosity and friction. Now i want to praise the practice and praise certain patients. The Practice has started to improve and that must continue. Some patients have had the courage to speak up publicly and that is not an easy thing to do. I hope i have done that. In life change only comes when you have the courage to speak up about it. A typical example of this is people complained about certain attitudes of receptionists and this has instigated change for the good. The practice is starting to listen to patients. That is good. Patients must never be frightened of expressing constructive criticism. Once again i say Change only comes when you have the courage of your convictions

Tried to make an appointment for my son who us suffering with depression and his mental health. He can't get an appointment, had one telephone call 12 months ago . All I was told was to fill in the online consult form, which after a certain time says they're not taking anymore that day. The receptionist are no help at all, to busy chewing gum, Never had such poor service since this doctors became Ashton Medical Group. Even the staff are unprofessional. Absolutely disgraceful service !

At five past eight after being cut off once no appointments left seems to be relying on online appointments. Although the staff are Polite it doesn't get you to see a doctor

  6. Review titled Responsive appointment arrangements

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I do not live locally and I am trying to support my elderly parents ( 86 and 88) with appointments as they are not able to travel independently. The practice has been so helpful scheduling appointments to match times that I can bring them and also combining different appointments on the same day to minimise the effort of travelling for my mum and dad. When we had urgent issues we were seen right away and the two GP’s that we saw in September were both fantastic, allowing both my sister and myself to be in the appointment also. The people booking the appointments and answering the phone have been really helpful and understanding. I just wanted to say how impressed I’ve been with the overall experience and to thank everyone involved .

  7. Review titled Understaffed

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 August 2022

I've been with this practice for a few years. I get the impression that they are horrendously understaffed and struggling with the volume of patients they have. GPs are usually good when you get to see them but trying to get a GP appointment is a nightmare. There is some confusing online system they have set up, where you have to fill out a form in order to get a phone call from a doctor at an unknown time, forcing you to be on alert all day. Alternatively you can call at 8 in the morning and be on hold for half an hour hoping desperately by the time you get through, there'll still be appointments left. It's not accessible at all for anyone who struggles with this kind of thing, and you do get the suspicion this is all built to discourage you from making an appointment. As you see a different GP every time, you don't form a rapport with anyone and get a sense that you are invisible amongst a sea of other patients. Effectively your best strategy is to go in with a clear idea of exactly what you need and just ask the GP to do it. There are also problems with communication, and I have sometimes logged onto Patient Access, for example, and found one of my medications has been taken off my repeat prescription with no notice or information. However, I think this is the case for a lot of GP practices at the moment, and not really their fault - it's down to underfunding. That doesn't change the impact on their patients though and I have certainly been put off seeing the GP for anything that isn't causing me actual pain.

  8. Review titled Awful!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Daniel - Posted on 20 June 2022

Been having problems for over a month now. Spoken to a doctor twice who has booked a couple of tests in. Both came back clear (wasn't informed of this, had to call). The problem is still persisting, spoke to someone last week who told me to go online. I told them that the doctor had asked me to call back up if the problems persisted so they sent a note through to the doctor. Not heard anything back so called back today, the doctor responded to the note saying "doesn't have to be him that speaks to me again, and that if I want another appointment I need to go through the online portal to book one". People go to the Doctor's when there is a problem so there is already concern/worry, this whole "online" process doesn't do anything to try and calm people's nerves. I'm beginning to think that there is an 'a' missing from 'GP' and it actually stands for 'Go Away Please'!!!!!!
