  1. Review titled Absolutely terrible

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Simon - Posted on 01 February 2024

I actually can’t believe this place, I was phoning them at 8am and eventually got told to ring back at 12, as I waited I also phoned 111 due to being in so much agony and pain, when I phoned back at 12 I was in a queue for 35 minutes and was still 4th so I walked down as I only live 5 minutes away. Once I got there I was spoken too by an receptionist and I explained what was happening, she then told me too hold on and I waited for 5 minutes just for her to come back and say the doctor isn’t going too see you because it’s not urgent! I then explained the last time I came and they said it wasn’t urgent I was later taken into a&e where they said it was severe and could of gotten worse if I didn’t come in that day, once I told her she gave me the looks as she wasn’t listening and wasn’t bothered at all and replied with its not urgent the doctor won’t see you again. I later went to the pharmacy to try and get something too numb the pain and explained that the doctors was terrible and wasn’t bothered. The pharmacy then replied with you’re not the first who’s came here and said that we’ve had many people come in and said the exact same thing. In my opinion I think this doctors is absolutely ridiculous and really bad, I would never recommend this too anyone who lives anywhere near it.

  2. Review titled They need to sort themselves out

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Elektra - Posted on 01 February 2024

I rang up about 4 months ago on a water infection and they said they would ring back so I could book and appointment. They never rang back I left it and left it hoping I could get booked in there but they never had any spaces for me even tho I was ringing up 8:30 in the morning for them to tell me to ring back at 12 and as I did ring them back they had nothing available left after about 4 weeks of me trying to get in there my water infection got worse so I had to go the hospital and it’s lucky I went when I did as they said if I left any longer it would of gone to my kidneys. All just because they would see me. Furthermore the last 3 days my ear has been hurting so I thought it might have been an ear infection. Once again I rang the doctors at 8:30 and they said ring back later so I thought I would ring 111 and they said they would get the doctor to ring me back which they never did. So I decided to go up there and see if they can just fit me in and have a look so it don’t get worse and I don’t have to go to the hospital again. Even tho it was only 12:10 apparently it isn’t an urgent matter so I’ll have to come back another day. They are useless literally no point them being there all they do is sit there and don’t want to help just let everyone suffer in pain it’s all a joke and this place has gone down hill. Thank god for the chemist near me who checked my ear straight away and gave my antibiotics for my ear infection if it wasn’t for the chemist I would have to suffer in pain.

  3. Review titled Rude receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

Every time I call the surgery for the people I support the same receptionist is extremely rude and unprofessional. She has zero people skills and when referring to the people I support she is negative and not willing to help. When I have previously visited the surgery with the people I am supporting whilst waiting at the reception I have heard her discussing her previous nights out. All the doctors at the surgery do help however I feel she let's the whole staff team down and personally I would be embarrassed having her working on the reception.

  4. Review titled Great Surgery, but now so not easy to get an appointment

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Steve Wells - Posted on 21 March 2023

The Staff have been excellent at Ashfield House Surgery and I cannot rate them highly enough. Also, historically, you could usually see a doctor there on the day you rang which was great. However recently I wasn’t able to get an appointment for my daughter having tried on 2 consecutive days. We ended up spending a morning at the walk-in centre instead. I wonder if they’re currently struggling with demand?

Thank you for your kind comments, these have been passed to the staff members concerned. Demand is increasing and so is the population in our catchment area due to new housing etc. We are looking into ways to respond to this to offer more appointments and obtain more staff, and possibly alter or extend the surgery as space and clinical rooms are very limited in the premises we use. My husband was terminally ill and had not ever been to the surgery in 2 decades, however he found that the male doctor and especially the nurse practitioner, where very supportive.

  6. Review titled Nice practice/staff when actually get an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 October 2022

A really frustrating system is in place for making appointments... ring at 8:30am for available appointments in the morning. Nothing normally left by the time you get through (on average half an hour waiting time). Then try again at midday for any afternoon appointments. Nothing left, something urgent, then go to the walk in centre... awful really. Doesn't seem to matter whether it's babies or elderly or other more vulnerable people in society. Will be changing GP surgeries after my experience which is a shame as when you actually get an appointment, everything is great.

  7. Review titled Poor childcare and service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 October 2022

Had very few interactions so far (luckily) but all times that have rushed my daughter (3) out of the surgery as fast as possible and haven’t given her the time of day at all! Currently trying to get a flu vaccine appointment for her and they just keep fobbing us off and won’t let us book an appointment! Really hoping we never need them for anything serious as I wouldn’t trust them to take the time to help!

  8. Review titled Lovely Doctors & Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Victoria Bradley - Posted on 27 September 2022

Ashfield House is a lovely doctors surgery. The Doctors, Nurse Practitioner, Nurses & Staff always have time for you. I have been visiting along with my husband & 3 children for many years and never had any issues at all. We see both the Dr and the Nurse practitioner. They are always very helpful and will go out of their way to make sure they address and resolve the problem. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Keep up the excellent work.
