  1. Review titled Dismissive GPs, enormous wait times, administrative errors

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 May 2025

There have been many instances now that the Klinik portal for this specific GP practice has shown severe administrative errors and as a result it is always difficult to get an appointment. Friday last week, however, I was able to access the portal and receive a same-day telephone appointment (an unlikely occurrence). I was very surprised, as I would usually be waiting upwards of two weeks for any type of appointment, even for severe health issues. I was called by [redacted- a GP at Amersham Vale Surgery] regarding some ongoing/worsening physical health conditions. This doctor in particular seemed very stressed, and was very short with me on the phone as I explained my symptoms. I was made to feel like a burden, and though I can appreciate the stress on NHS workers in 2025 I was merely trying to explain my symptoms and received a dismissive tone. I suggested that I may have needed antibiotics, as I had symptoms typical of a chest infection, and the doctor said: "Okay, I've put them through. Thank you, bye.", without any further arrangement for an in-person appointment. I thought this phone call was rather rude and displayed a lack of care for me as a patient, though I can also appreciate that we are all human and have off-days.

  2. Review titled Amersham Vale Practice

by Ifeoma Orjiekwe - Posted on 15 May 2025

When I went to see my Gp, was a bit anxious and worried regarding my Ultran Scan, for my Fibroids, because I am going for a coronoscopy treatment, which will be taking place at Lewisham, so I am very keen to have my scan done. Am no more seeing my period, so my Gp mentioned it is a 50, 50 chance of them seeing me or not, she strongly suggests that because I am not seeing my period they is chance that they will not see me. And another reason is because at the moment, the NHS is overwhelmed with patients. So the only options left now, is that she will give it a try to see, if it works out if it does not work out, just have it in mind, I do not have heavy periods, which I used to have in the past, which I used to worry a lot , for years I have to be on medications, which have never been easy at all, over the years and my mum have been very caring and highly supportive. Why I am so worried and keen to have my scan for my fibroid, because the last time I went, that was in 2019, fibroids were so big, I was expecting it to shrink by now, still very shocked with the results, still not very happy at all, up to this present day, because I have been going for my scans, a couple of times. So this is the main reason I get anxious, unsettled not myself at all. I have been taking a tablets called : (Desogesteral), to help to shrink the fibroids, still taking it up till now, because the doctor, I saw recommend I must take it, in order to get rid of the fibroids, which is extremely hard and not easy at all. And another solution, another doctor, suggested is going through surgery, which again is another 50, 50, chance. She suggested strongly, not guaranteeing, it is 100 percent the perfect, could go either way you can go for the surgery, depending how it goes, might go very well or other alternatives, even it goes very well, sometimes the fibroids, can come back a again, which is a huge worry, can be very disappointing and frustrating, if it does mot go well. I have not been myself because of that, sat down, have given it a serious re-think about it, have a chat about it with my mum and dad, especially my brother, who is a doctor, really lovely 😍 and supportive, the entire family have come to a conclusion, it is not worth it and felt my life is at risk! So with all the lovely help and support, I have got from the whole family, it has made me have a re-think, on what to do, seeing things in clear perspectives, in the choices i make, making sure it is the right ones, the right decisions. Also be more careful in everything I do and don't put my life at risk in danger, if surgery is not the answer of getting rid of my fibroids, there are better options and solutions to try. And the recent doctor which was so lovely suggested to be positive with my weight always. Keep attending my low carb program, never give up! Keep fighting! Be strong too!!!!!

  3. Review titled Consistently great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Very helpful call with GP today about my daughter's condition. We are so happy to have moved to Amersham Vale from another local practice which we used to dread interacting with. Every staff interaction is constructive and helpful reflecting a very positive culture. The different ways of accessing services such as Klinik and the NHS app make contact easy and team is really responsive, and we have had not problems getting appointments when needed. Thank you for being a great practice

  4. Review titled GP abrupt, impatient and rude

Rated 1 star out of 5

Telephone appointment with Doctor to discuss test results. Before I could even briefly explain why I wanted to speak to her, she jumped in shouted me down, and cut me off mid sentence. I couldn't believe this was the same doctor I had spoken to a couple of weeks earlier! Rude and impatient. She was unaware she was on speaker phone and there were 2 other people with me who were also shocked that a doctor would speak in such a manner. I appreciate GP's must deal with a lot, but the way she spoke to me was unacceptable. Then at end of the conversation wished me a good day as if to compensate for her rudeness. I hope I never have to deal with this GP again

I needed an appointment for coil removal; although there were none left on the day when I called, the person I spoke to called me back shortly afterwards with a cancellation so I was able to go that same day. This was very much appreciated. The appointment was on time and my treatment was very good. Thank you!

  7. Review titled Rubbish GP

Rated 1 star out of 5

Honestly what a complete joke no appointment for 3 weeks and that’s for a telephone appointment after explaining I need treatment now and in 3 weeks time it would have cleared up to be told to go to A&E (it’s not an A&E problem) honestly what a complete joke

  9. Review titled A mistake on the Ultrasound appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 August 2024

I had a consultation in June 2024, the doctor told me to wait for a letter for an ultrasound appointment, probably would arrive in 4 weeks. I received the letter in late August 2024. I called the Radiology Dept., and the person on the phone said my appointment was cancelled. I complaint that the letter came late, anyways, I had to make a new consultation appointment again. The communication of Lewisham hospital and Amersham Vale Practice is a mess.

  10. Review titled Thank you!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I love Amersham Vale practice. Each time I visit I am treated with so much respect and care I’m honestly blown away. I’ve been with this practice for 8 years and am usually seen by different Doctors but they are so lovely and patient I can’t really thank you enough. I’m really grateful for all of your hard work, including the lovely reception staff. Today I attended an appointment for a concern I was quite worried about, I called up yesterday and was given an appointment straight away. After seeing the GP and finding that I was okay I apologised for wasting their time (I don’t usually book Dr appointments). However the Dr was incredibly kind and instead asked how I was doing in general and we used a couple of extra minutes to check on existing health concerns I have. I never expected this and it felt truly above and beyond what they had to do.
