Recently joined this GP practice due to a house move. Have needed their support more than I expected and have had polite, friendly and efficient interactions with reception, medical and nursing staff. Great communication, prompt responses to queries by phone and e-consults

I saw the Nurse on 26.9.2023, she has sorted all of my medications/annual review, given me treatment for an appalling skin condition and my ears following 2 months of ear infections. Blood tests for my thyroid, B/P, weight, very thorough, cannot get a more efficient service. Thank you

  7. Review titled Left feeling lonely

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I needed a sick note first appointment (via telephone not face to face) was day 12 of being off work. Appointment time was 09:40 I was rung at 12:10 and whilst I had rung at 11 am to check I was on a list when the GP spoke to me they did not apologise for the delay, could not access my letters from secondary care ( the hospital) and appeared to have no terms of sympathy for my situation. Asking “what do you want from me? “ whilst this is an open question being able to empathise, rather than just get through the list would be implicit if your are intended to work in health with people when they are not well. I could have got a better service from artificial intelligence a service driven by a computer algorithm because I would not have had the expectation of being listened to. I am well aware the NHS is busy and has tremendous back log of work, I am a tolerant person and understand the pressures- indeed I work in a hospital but the one thing that humans should do is be empathic. The consultation I had lasted less than 3 minutes so I would have helped the medic catch up their list but a day on I am left thinking how many other people are having this sort of poor experience but not bothering to complain? The powers of the NHS should be its workforce - if this is the level of engagement - I am worried for us all …..the experience of being unwell is lonely, and my experience is not eased by the interaction. Modern medicine is becoming soulless and anonymous completing function not reaching out to the person. I wonder when the medical team at the Health Centre have had clinical supervision, it’s part of basic governance and no matter how busy you profess to be it’s the bedrock of clinical care to prevent and notice if individuals are becoming blunt in their interactions and behaviour….. I will need to engage again with the Health Centre perhaps I can make the interaction faster and blunter and just say “ I need a sick note “ as my opening remark. I finally reflect that if I remain a telephone consultation I’m not sat in a waiting room for 150 minutes so not obvious to anyone -how lonely….
