    Fortunately I do not often need to get an appointment but the booking system is appalling and not fit for purpose. You start ringing at 8a.m. Today it was 8.50a.m. before I got a ringing tone and it was just after 9a.m. when I got to speak to an actual person and, you've guessed it, all today's appointments had gone. So try again tomorrow when I expect it will be the same story. Getting an appointment should not be so difficult. It should not be traumatic. How many other frustrated callers were there this morning? Perhaps if we were all to claim money for our wasted time from the Medical Centre it might move someone to provide a more efficient service.

    I am really sorry this was your experience. If you call me on 01206 517106 I will do my utmost to help. It is extremely difficult to fully meet the needs of patients at the moment; in line with NHSE plan we have a range of clinicians people can see and we do our utmost to ensure everyone is seen. Yesterday we had two doctors off unexpectedly and a receptionist off sick; it is not always possible to plan for these events and they do impact the practice.     After a nasty fall and many hours spent in A&E on two consecutive nights I had some concerns following my discharge. Today the duty doctor at the surgery agreed to me being added to his already full list for a telephone appointment. When he rang he listened to my concerns and gave me a full explanation to questions. He totally put my mind at rest. He was really caring and compassionate to me, he never hurried the appointment and was happy to listen to everything said. He was excellent.

    Sometimes it has been difficult to take my blood so I was extra pleased this time as your excellent phlebotomist had no trouble at all and I know I will receive information as to the results, much appreciated

    I am speaking for myself and not the rest of the community. The medical and nursing services I receive from Abbeyfields medical centre are excellent and I couldn’t ask for better help and support. All staff are very reassuring and helpful in a time of need. I will finally add that all Abbeyfields staff are real ambassadors to the NHS in Colchester and cannot thank them enough.
