Rated 2 stars out of 5

Despite the NHS sites saying that dental-plates are free, charged £86 for plate-repair. Cost £86 new less than 8 weeks ago.

  3. Review titled Wisdom Tooth

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was referred to this practice by my own dentist for a wisdom tooth extraction, and a couple of people I work with had also been treated here and had good experiences. I had 2 dental nurses in with the dentist who were both absolutely lovely, as well as the dentist himself, who all made chitchat which calmed me greatly and gave plenty of reassuring words. They were all just absolutely lovely, not to mention the actual procedure, which seemed to go absolutely seemlessly and I've been left with minimum side effects. Couldn't thank the team enough for their friendliness and professionalism :)

  4. Review titled Not caring for us as a person

Rated 1 star out of 5

I am a cancer patient since 2019, and I have been spending hours in various NHs facilities in Dorset. Until now I have never made any bad review and have always been amazed at how caring nurses and doctors are. I felt I wasn't considered as a patient - I was a number, a piece of work. I was rushed in and out of the door for a tooth extraction which required some bone removed in the end. I wasn't expecting much from the dentist, just something like "how are you today ?", or "if it hurts let me know by raising your hand". I didn't have any of these. The dentist was speaking very fast about the intervention, you could see it was his usual Speech- like a recorder. I had to ask him to slow down and repeat. I thought I would have some emotional support from the dentist's assistants. They remained silent during the whole appointment. The local anestetic was rushed into my flesh, creating huge pain with the needle because of the speed the liquid was released (I had plenty of these before, never ever like that. I also have to say that I am a tough person, my body has gone through 50+ chemo injections and 100+ neddles). The dentist ended the third injection by "Good girl!". How shocking and patronising is that. The intervention in itself was a shock for me, I hadn't been prepared enough as to what to expect. I had to ask them for guidance about how to care for my mouth, at the end of the appointment. They had just planned to give me a paper copy of these recommandations. Felt like they hadn't even thought about covering anything orally with me. After the appointment, I got into my car and cried for 15 good minutes. Firstly because of the intervention I got, which was more "physical" then what I had ever experienced at a dentist before for a tooth extraction (and I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted before); and secondly because of the total lack of empathy and consideration I received over the whole time I was there. I had never cried after visiting a medical facility, until I came there. It seems like nobody I met that day cared about the patients at all. Can they receuve training ? Is there any policy regarding the patients ' expérience ? Does it cost much to say "how are you today?" "Don't worry, let me know if that hurts". I'll prefer to go private instead of going back there another time.
