  1. Review titled Taking NHS patients Really ??

Rated 1 star out of 5

Be careful. We went to Stowmarket because you need to register at the practice. Can't be done online or over the phone. Got a call in the afternoon stating I was an emergency because I had a hole in my tooth and would need to go private to be assessed. As I have had this for over a year now I don't consider it an emergency but they were insistant. Watch what you put on the form if you want to go on the NHS list for the appointment. Seems they want to increase the number of private patients by this method. No emergencies on NHS was stated.

  2. Review titled I was misled

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 May 2024

I filled in forms to go on the NHS list. Tavern Street phoned me to say I was accepted. I checked that I was definitely going to be on the NHS and they confirmed this was correct. For 2 years I have been with them and they informed me today that I had always been seen as a private patient. As I have been with them as private I am not entitled to go on the NHS as it is only for new patients. I burst out crying and was told I’m rude and aggressive and can no longer go there!

  3. Review titled Highly recommended

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I didn’t think I would ever find a surgery as good as my previous dentist. Very nervous and anxious patient. I re located and Tavern Street is the only place I can find to take on new NHS patients. Everything about this surgery is amazing. My new Dentist there had my full confidence instantly. I needed 3 fillings and all were done in a single appointment I cannot recommend this surgery highly enough. All the staff I have met so far have been fabulous.

  4. Review titled Cynical marketing ploy

Rated 1 star out of 5

I received a leaflet from this practice which gives the strong impression that they are taking on new nhs patients. I phoned the practice, told them I wanted to register and was told by the receptionist to email them with my name and date of birth. I was keen to register with a local dentist, as currently, I face a 120 mile round trip to see my nhs dentist and really need a local one. Shortly after, phoning this practice, I received and automated email, which was basically sales blurb for private patients. Deep in the sales blurb, it's mentioned that you might be able to join thier nhs waiting list, if you turn up in person and fill in some forms. This excersise might, get you a preliminary nhs examination at some point in the future. Then I read the reviews. Needless to say, I'll not be using this practice.

  5. Review titled Not as advertised

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Miguel - Posted on 28 March 2024

I receive a flyer through my letterbox advertising NHS appts available at Tavern Dental. I call them asking to book a check up. I am told, no I have to email my request. I email, then I receive a reply saying that yes, maybe they can see me but not sure how long I'll have to wait and that to "register" I have to attend the Practice in person and fill in a medical form. And then wait..? Why in person? Why do I have to email you? Why not just book me over the phone? If you have spaces , why not book it Why play games and waste my time?

  7. Review titled Disappointing

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 December 2023

I could not find an NHS dentist and felt forced to go private. I avoided having a checkup for over two years as I couldn't afford it. The reception staff were inattentive and spent most of the time gossiping rather than working. This irritated me considering the amount of people forced to go private paying for this poor service. My gums were fine before I saw the hygenist, but since my appointment they have bled on and off. I definitely won't be going back.

  8. Review titled Great service and friendly staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mark Rickards - Posted on 10 October 2023

I arrived 10 minutes late for my appointment due to traffic. The reception staff were very understanding and managed to slot me in with another dentist 45 minutes later. I cannot fault the helpful friendly manner in which this was dealt with. The dentist, assistant and reception staff were very good an the day and I have always found them to be helpful. Thank you very much

  9. Review titled Uncaring

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Eira Featley - Posted on 30 November 2023

Was with Tavern St for over 7 years and saw it deteriorate over time. I broke my ankle so while in hospital rang to cancel my appointment. I was told that would be fine. When I tried to re book as the filling they had done fell out and tooth cracked I was told you can nolong attend this dentist as you cancelled. I explained I broke my ankle the receptionist ensinpaecric said that's the second time you cancelled the other was in 2019! Which was my son being taken into hospital. I had alway made them aware i was carer for my son. To be told our system won't let you back. I've appeal tried everything but they were totally uncaring I now have to travel an hour and a half for an NHS dentist.

  10. Review titled Reception staff robotic lacked empathy

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 June 2023

The receptionist just seemed very robotic, completely lacked any empathy or understanding, you may even question if she was human or a robot. My appointment was at 3:45pm for my 3 year old son however, there was an ambulance on the road on the way to the dentist so I couldn't get passed, it got to 3:40 and still was stuck so I thought I had better call to let them know... I called twice no answer. I arrived at the dentist at 3:50pm and had to wait another 10 minutes to be served as the receptionist was answering phone calls at this point instead of serving the customer who was Infront of me. When I got to the desk it was 4pm, I said I have my son booked in for 3:45 she said ok I will see if he can still see him take a sit so I did. She then came up to me and said I would have to email to book in again, I said can I book it in with you now, she said no I said why she said because you missed your whole appointment so he may not be able to see your son at all now, but it's all ok (well clearly isn't ok) to which I replied I have wasted my time I will go elsewhere. I am extremely frustrated as this was no fault of my own. Having spoken to my partner he recommended I didn't take myself off their list as it is so difficult to find another dentist, however having spoken to others, reading reviews and the mangers response to reviews and my personal experience I will be taking myself off their list. As I really don't want another bad experience. I really empathise with the people that has had bad experiences with the dentist staff there and their lack of empathy or understanding to their customers. Luckily my next appointment is not until September so I have plenty of time to cancel. I seriously recommend people not to go to this dentist they seem to be wasting people's time and blaming the customers for unforeseen circumstances which is ridiculous. Something really needs to change at this dentist before upsetting more and more people for no reason. It's such a shame all these bad reviews and nothing seems to be looked into more closely. Surely if they keep having bad reviews about their staff they need to be investigating the staff.
