  1. Review titled Amazing practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Attended for my bi-annual check-up and was greeted with a very warm welcome. The service was excellent from start to finish. I highly recommend this practice! They do get busy, so it’s best to book in advance. A great example of NHS care at its best — you can really feel the positive vibes from the smiling faces and giggles all around. The dentist was warm, friendly, and explained my treatment clearly and thoroughly

  2. Review titled 4 week wait for NHS appointment at Pickerings

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been with Pickering for decades and have paid at least £5000 in dental charges in last few years. Now I am retired and need NHS dental help. I have a cracked tooth and called Pickerings today to make an appointment. They told me that if I want NHS treatment I will have to wait almost 4 weeks to be seen. However if I pay a one-off £65 plus *at least* £250 for treatment (but with no upper limit given) they can see me almost immediately.

  4. Review titled Ongoing issues not resolved

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Nik - Posted on 19 June 2024

I had no issues with Dental beauty up until recently. I attended an appointment due to sensitivity to hot and cold on my upper left side. I was booked an appointment with a different dentist which didn't bother me at the time. I attended my first appointment and had white plus amalgam filling. I noticed after the numbing had worn off I still had sensitivity plus mild pain where I had been treated. I complained of my issues and I attended at least 3 more appointments to try to resolve the issue. When I attended my appointments I was numbed and additional work completed. I still have heat sensitivity/pain when eating hot food that I cannot tolerate. When I asked for a different dentist due to lack of confidence I was informed I'd have to pay again. I have been hugely inconvenienced by all the above as I have had to attend the dentist while working full-time. Not impressed at all!

  5. Review titled Not an NHS practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by NHS patient - Posted on 12 April 2024

Booked a consultation this week and their agenda was quite free. I mentioned I needed some fillings, but they still charged me band 1 even before the appointment started. After a delay, the dentist analysed everything in less than 10 min and said I needed to come again to do the fillings. A Month From Now! When I questioned for a sooner appointment, the answer was that it was impossible because I am an NHS patient. How does NHS allow this kind of segregation?

We're sorry to hear about your experience. As an NHS dentist, we adhere to the guidelines and procedures set by the NHS. We would like to clarify that NHS form does state "I agree to pay the statutory charges for the NHS dental service I receive, unless I have completed a valid claim for free or reduced cost NHS dental services below, and that I may have to pay the full amount prior to treatment". Appointment availability can vary based on patient needs and our diary schedule. We strive to provide timely and efficient care to all our patients, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the scheduling delay. We encourage you to reach out to our practice manager to discuss your concerns further and explore any possible solutions.
