  1. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Susan Donnelly - Posted on 13 March 2024

Appointment today with Urology. The clinic was cancelled at last minute. Received no communication. My wife had to take the day off as unpaid leave, parking £3.60. This just adds to cost of living costs. Unacceptable. The appointment has been cancelled twice now a year has gone by. Worrying!

  2. Review titled severe stress after unfair parking charge notice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Rick - Posted on 10 April 2024

on 21 march 2024 I attended a medical appointment at circle meriden - university hospital coventry. before leaving the premises, I went to the parking machine, inserted my reg number plate and the machine requested to pay the sum of 6.80£ which is the correct amount for the time I have been parked in the hospital, (3 hours and 39 min) I paid with contactless card, but the machine did not print a receipt ticket, after paying I left the premises straight away. on 28 march 2024 I received by post a parking charge notice dated 25 march 2024 for 100£ with the possibility of a discount to 60£ if paid in 14 days from the date of issue, supposedly for having left the premises without paying. on the same day 28 March 2024, I made an online appeal to popla explaining that I did pay just before leaving and provided a copy of my bank statement showing the payment taken from my bank account. on 08 april 2024 I received a response via email, saying that they are unable to locate any vehicle details that match my vehicle registration within the circle meriden terminal, that my recent appeal has been unsuccessful and that I have now reached the end of the internal appeals procedure. this situation is causing me severe stress, especially knowing that I must attend the Hospital on regular basis in line with my medical treatment and potentially this unfair situation could happen again every time I park and pay in the hospital car park. I have seen many cases like mine online and wonder if there is a fault with the plate recognition system and / or the payment machines that they must be aware.

  3. Review titled very poor service staff do not care

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was told to go to a and e by 111 as i have got covid and i was struggling to breath and had chest pains when i got there my husband went and told them i had covid and other health issues they did not keep me away from other people the waiting room was crammed full people were waiting outside as room where you wait was full i have had 3 major brain operation leg problems when standing i am classed a disabled when my husband told them this they said there is only a few hours wait to see triage a seat did become available by a really old lady but i would not sit by her as i did not want her to catch covid at her age. How is it Walsgrave hospital can let someone sit in a room with sick people when you tell them you have got covid, i was so worried i might infect other people i went home with out seeing anyone, i am going to ring my own doctor in the morning to see if they can help. Rating for Walsgrave A and E minus 10.

  4. Review titled Gruelling Experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

Appalling experience in A&E and MDU. My husband was referred by our GP for urgent evaluation as he was concerned about possible sepsis due to a bad chest infection. The A&E Dept was cramped, dirty and overflowing with people, there were no seats when we arrived and we had to stand, there was also presence of police and security staff which made us feel uneasy. My husband is 80yrs old and was quite unwell. We were seen fairly quickly by a triage nurse and then had to try to find a chair where we sat for 3hrs and then we were transferred to MDU where we sat for a further 4hrs. Approx every 20mins a nurse would walk the long corridor leading to the waiting area and announce a patient's name, no one came forward so she turned and walked back up the corridor only to return in approx 20 mins time and call out the same name. This happened multiple times. Some people had been waiting for over 5 hours. After 4 hours my husband was seen by a doctor who had just come on duty. He was surprised at how many people were still waiting. My husband needed an urgent course of penicillin but the pharmacy closes at 9pm so we had to return the next day in order to get his medication. The car parking cost us £12.50 and we live in Rugby. We found the whole experience disgraceful in this day and age. We were fortunate as we had our son with us and he was able to get us a drink and something to eat but many had to go without. Why are there no vending machines for hot drinks and snacks? Why is there no communication from any of the nurses concerning the waiting times? Please someone take a long hard look at your urgent care at the hospital which seems severely lacking.

  5. Review titled Impersonal

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Matt - Posted on 18 September 2023

I was referred for an ultrasound scan. The waiting room was very warm and dingey with seats all facing a wall ! Prior to my appointment I was sent a letter explaining what I should expect on the day. The experience was very different to that set out in the letter. I felt like an inanimate object on a conveyor belt rather than a person being cared for. I know the NHS is pushed to the limit but being pleasant and reassuring really isn't that time consuming.

  6. Review titled Good experience

In July 2023 I had to take my mum to hospital after a fall in the kitchen resulting in large lump on forehead. After the very long wait in A&E we were transferred to acute frailty ward to be properly checked out . This is part of A&E with view to send home. I really must say this was an excellent way of doing all checks and feeling cared for and looked after. Both for my mum and myself. I really would suggest to the management to do more of this idea in more areas of the hospital. Although we still spent some hours in this ward it was so much more pleasant and knew what we were having done (scans) results so much quicker. This was because the gentleman in charge of ward was able to do so much more ,(writing prescription) verified by consultant who was also available to ask questions. The nursing staff were excellent and this ward is an example of how caring is given.

  7. Review titled Brilliant prompt help

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Simon - Posted on 29 June 2023

having been concerned i had seriously damaged my ankle i went to minor injuries at the Walsgrave hospital and to their absolute credit they were incredibly efficient and helpful. Notwithstanding it was quiet at the time I went the staff were great, helpful and the experience was made very easy. I dont normally write reviews but I felt in this case i would, as we should recognise the great work that all of the staff within our NHS do.

  8. Review titled Stratford minor injuries unit - excellent tem

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jo Johnson - Posted on 19 April 2023

I attended the Minor Injuries Unit this morning at Stratford on Avon and would like to commend them on such a great service. I don't think I can mention names here, but the meet and greet gentleman was warm and welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. The receptionist was so kind to my young son and our nurse was friendly and considerate. The whole wait/ x-ray/ consultation process was about an hour and a half. Brilliant - I highly recommend this small injuries unit but don't really want to because the fact it was quiet also made it a very pleasant and quick experience for us.

  10. Review titled Walsgrave Hospital - 5 stars

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My elderly mum was admitted to Ward 20 (care of the elderly) via accident and emergency . She was in hospital for 10 days. Everyone, from the a&e receptionist through to the Discharge Co-ordinator, was brilliant. Patients were treated with competence and kindness, and their dignity was respected. The medical investigations were thorough. Nursing care was exemplary. Even the food seemed to be fine! The discharge was handled efficiently and well, and communication was excellent. A high standard of professionalism demonstrated by all.
