  1. Review titled Excellent Staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Paul - Posted on 24 January 2023

Excellent staff whilst I was in A&E and being transferred to a ward. Although long time waiting understand service is stretched. Admitted for few nights and had gallbladder surgery week later. Whole service good apart from discharge as took 5 hours to get meds from being told was OK to go home.

  2. Review titled Poor discharge

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Whilst the hospital treatment and care was good, trying to be discharged was terrible. Consultant was happy to let me go on the Friday subject physio and others. Was satisfied later in the day. Whilst seen by another doctor and physio the next day discharge did not happen. Sunday seen another doctor who was going to check what is going on. Also, the noise some days, created by another patient, was not challenged. Hospital is not exactly a place for patients to watch netflix at what sounded like full volume

  3. Review titled Great response for a serious injury

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Entered A&E with a dislocated elbow as a 21 year old. A nurse saw my very visibly horrific injury at the reception desk and within 5 minutes of sitting in the waiting area I got fast tracked to the X ray line. I was in severe pain but the communication from several nurses reassured me that I was being taken care of and they gave me a strong pain killer. A fairly painful 30-45 min wait for X ray, then painful 45 min wait for a doctor to pop my elbow back in place. Nurses were lovely looked after me when I was on gas to put my elbow back . The wait was long but in the grand scheme of things it wasn't for the current stress the NHS is on. Very pleased with my experiences, thanks to the great nurses!!!!!

  4. Review titled Wonderful staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I cannot praise the midwives, paediatric nurses and doctors enough at this hospital. Throughout my entire pregnancy and then the care we received on the Riverbank Ward when my two week old baby was ill was highly professional, supportive and caring to all of us as a family. Wonderful, hard-working people work here and I feel very lucky this is my local hospital.

  7. Review titled Very Poor A and E department

Rated 1 star out of 5

I had Severe bleeding in the groin area that happened at night when I was about to go to sleep. I Couldn't stop the bleeding with a dressing for 5 minutes. I panicked and was scared and went to Bedford Hospital ASAP for investigation at 2am. Very disappointed with Triage and treatment from staff. They were very unprofessional and not caring. They saw my bleeding and They gave me a new dressing to stop my bleeding and told me to wait in the waiting room to see a doctor. Hours went by and no sign of a Doctor. I spoke with receptionist who said I was not a high priority and was behind 9 people. 8 Hours later a Dr saw me who had started the new shift and saw that my bleeding had stopped with the dressing. I had to answer the same questions that I answered to the Triage, which I found irritating, as these details were not passed on to the next shift. This was frustrating. The Dr apologised for the lateness of seeing her. However, I told the doctor that I was annoyed waiting all night and frightened about the bleeding and that Triage should have told me that my case was not urgent and the bleeding wasn’t to panick about and reassured me. With that in mind, I would have gone home with the bandage instead of waiting for over 8 hours to see a Doctor, who told me the bleeding was healing and scabbing, it’s best to let in heal. I found the whole experience very demoralising. I advise Bedford Hospital to tell their staff to use better care when dealing with patients like myself by clearly informing us about everything, rather than being vague and leave me hanging for 8 hours.

  9. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Our young daughter was in hospital after she had a seizure and difficulty breathing. From when she arrived at A&E to leaving the ward the next day, the staff were absolutely amazing. The kindness, personal touch and care they provided was outstanding, I honestly could not believe how nice everyone was. Although waiting on medicine from the pharmacy and discharge took longer than expected, the staff kept us informed and did their best to help the process along. People really do make a big difference to a persons experience at a hospital and we are so thankful to everyone involved.

  10. Review titled Excellent new system to get a blood test

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 July 2022

I was impressed last week, having booked my son a blood test on the online booking system. When we turned up to appointment we went straight in, no waiting around which is ideal for children. The nurse was lovely and I found it all very quick and easy.
