  1. Review titled Mental health practitioner

Rated 1 star out of 5

Had an appointment with mental health practitioner who just wanted to talk about their own problems and tell me how great their anti-depressants were. Told them I wasn't interested in medication, after that they couldn't offer any advice just a follow up appointment and some phone numbers to call in an emergency. A complete waste of time.

  2. Review titled Poor experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

During my appointment I was not listened to, had to repeat myself on more than one occasion. At the end of the appointment I was told to have even more tests, and received no advice, which is disappointing as I have been seeking help for the past 12 months, each encounter just results in more tests. I asked questions but got ignored again.

Another short notice cancellation, next appointment isn't for two weeks. This is now the third short notice cancellation. We will be changing surgery, this is no longer acceptable.

Having spent nearly an hour on phone to get through to surgery when I eventually spoke to a receptionist they told me I would be better going to walk in centre I told them I had already spoken to them and they advised me to go to my GP so they gave me an appointment I explained my circumstances and was phoned off with more medication that is not going to help me what so ever what is the point I think I need to change my doctor's as this surgery is getting terrible reviews

  5. Review titled Two short notice cancellations

Rated 1 star out of 5

Like all GP practices it's really difficult to get an appointment. Finally managed to get a telephone appointment and was told I needed to come in to the practice and was given an appointment the following week, only for it to be cancelled at very short notice. This is the second time I have had an appointment cancelled at short notice. Tried using the online messaging system but never received a response. Poor surgery but not sure anywhere else is any better.

  6. Review titled Very helpful

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Stephen Moneypenny - Posted on 24 October 2023

After a stay in hospital, and a short period staying in a care home outside of Widnes, my mum was assigned a new GP in St Helens! This was after being a patient at Bevan Group Practice since it's opening all those years ago. This meant I could not order her medication on Patient access app, it was quite worrying. I contacted the surgery to let them know and then received a call to meet with the patient liason officer. After a 30 minute meeting explaining the situation I was told they would sort this out for me. A few hours later all was OK. Medication for my mum was ready for collection and in blister packs which will be easier for her going forward. After being initially very annoyed at what had happened, I felt I had to write this to say that the staff are trying their best to help under very difficult circumstances, so be as patient and courteous as possible.

  7. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

Asked to attend for blood tests even though I have never spoken to a GP, only attended a nurse appointment to register as a new patient. Tried to get a telephone appointment to query request for random blood tests but was told on numerous occasions no appointments were available, but only after asking me what the appointment was for, so obviously fobbed off. Was told three different reasons why these blood tests were necessary, so don't know who to believe. One of the GPs altered a repeat prescription without any conversation, which felt arrogant at best. After reviewing prescription shouldn't have been changed and had to wait for a new prescription to be issued. Wish I had never changed GP, will most likely change to another practice.

  8. Review titled Another two hours with no joy

Rated 1 star out of 5

Cannot get through to surgery again - another two hours of engaged tone - getting an appointment is a lottery which seems to be if your luck is in - only ever had the phone answered once at 8 am - really poor and the only other option is to spend 5 or 6 hours in the walk in - this surgery really needs to review its policies - poor poor poor

Dear Patient. Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you were having trouble getting through on the telephone. The practice offers other alternate ways to gain an appointment such as pre-bookable appointments that can be booked any time during the day, online consultations via the practice website and extended access services. I hope this helps. Ashlie Practice Manager

  10. Review titled Impossible to see a doctor

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 November 2022

Trying to make an appointment - phoning at 8am on 30days running spent 3 and a half + only to hear the engaged tone every time - hundreds of tries when eventually got through (gone 9 am) all appointments always gone - poor service - extremely disappointed - but if you call into surgery at Any time it is always empty - not good enough

We are sorry to hear your dissatisfaction with the practice. There are other ways you can book appointment rather than calling at 8am. You can book via the NHS App for a routine appointment, you can call the practice to book a routine appointment, you can use PATCHS which is an online consultation or you can be care navigated to other services that may benefit you.
