  1. Review titled Bad Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

We moved to the place and despite my colleagues feedback, I registered with hollymoore GP. Many occasions I called and booked an appointment. Many times I was told that GP will call me back but never did. I even went to see the receptionist but they assured me that someone will call me. Anyway one day they did not called me to see my child. He got severely ill and took him to the emergency. We made it on time otherwise it could be the worst night for us. Please avoid and registered somewhere else. Hollymoore is the worst GP I’ve ever encountered.

  2. Review titled Pot Luck

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Frustrated Patient - Posted on 04 March 2024

To get a doctor "call back" you have to start calling the surgery at 8am. I recently did this and called 127 times, where I got the "engaged" tone. On the 128th time (after 26 minutes) I finally got on the caller queue and was 9th in the queue. This then took another 24 minutes to actually talk to a receptionist only to find that all the "call back" appointments had gone so suggested I try again the next day!! What sort of service is this? One simple solution is to increase the caller queue to say 50 as clearly this is set to 9 or 10 and it's basically "Pot Luck" if you get on the queue and nothing to do with how close to 8am it was that you called. If you suffer from stress, anxiety or hypertension then this ordeal will I suspect make your condition worse!! Also I feel that the number of "call backs" and "face to face" are very limited at this surgery. My reason for saying this is I have tried to get a "call back" on several occasions and these tend to be allocated within 30 minutes. To get a "face to face" appointment then I suggest you get a crystal ball to determine when you will be ill and book your appointment in the future as getting one when you actually need it you have to through the same nonsense as above and again "Pot Luck" if you get through.

  3. Review titled Never telephone back

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 October 2023

I telephoned on 29th September 2023 to arrange an appointment with a nurse for the 12th October 2023. Was told by the Deputy Practice Manager there were no appointments available. Was told by the Deputy Practice Manager they would speak to a GP to arrange tablets instead of an injection and would get back to me in 3 to 5 working days. I telephoned on the 9th October 2023 as I had received no call back to be informed the Deputy Practice Manager was off sick. My complaint is why did no-one else called me back? Surely there should be something on a "system" wherein someone else would call a patient back in case the original person is unable to? I was then given an appointment for a different day than I should have my injection on. The impact this has on patients that work with having to take time off for repeating hour long phone calls, appointments that don't align with work life, is very frustrating and can cause issues with places of work. Please review your procedures for contacting patients in case of staff abscences.

Dear Patient We are sorry to hear you were unhappy with the service which you received. As per our conversation we have been struggling with our Nurse/HCA appointments due to maternity leave & sickness. I have been discussing your expected call back with the practice team and we are looking into implementing a procedure to avoid this happening again. Kind Regards Hollymoor Medical Centre

  4. Review titled Very grateful

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Joanna - Posted on 29 August 2023

I called the surgery on a Thursday morning and was booked in for a face to face appointment later that morning. The doctor was running late but didn't make me feel rushed. She was extremely thorough, friendly and knowledgeable. She put me at ease immediately and made an anxiety-provoking situation much more pleasant. I work in general practice myself so know the huge pressures everyone is under, but I am extremely grateful for the excellent service I have received from the practice.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your kind review and for giving us 4 stars. This really means everything to our team as we work extremely hard on a daily basis to look after our patients. It is heart warming to know that this is being acknowledged and appreciated. May I take this opportunity to thank you once again on behalf of the whole team here at Hollymoor. Best wishes,

I rang the surgery in great pain and asked for an appointment. I was told a doctor would ring and this never happened. Eventually got told to go to local A&E if it was urgent.

  6. Review titled 90 minutes to get an answer on the phone

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 February 2023

I have tried to get an appointment for 3 months now and each day I call at 8 and I am number 18 or 22 in the que. I eventually get through and am told its emergency appointments only. I call back several days in a row with the same answer. Eventually I am informed there is an appointment that evening at West heath so I take the appointment. 2 hours later I get a call to say it was an error and I was booked in with a Nurse who won't be able to deal with my problem. I'm understanding of this as the receptionist was very apologetic and these things happen. She offered me a Telephone appointment later which I was happy with. A few hours later I receive a text saying Dr will see you f2f ASAP, so I go over to the surgery and am called in by the Dr who says "what can I do for you in this extremely urgent appointment?" I'm a bit confused but I sit down and she asks how long this pain has been going on, so I tell her quite a few months her response "and you choose to take this urgent appointment slot today?" I said I had no idea what she was talking about, I had never said it was urgent or an emergency I just asked for an appointment. She wasn't very interested in my issue just typing it all out ina computer rather than giving me 5 mins of her attention. I left with no pain relief and felt really dismissed. I work as a senior Nurse for the NHS and I carry out consultations myself and I understand the pressures etc but that isn't the patients fault and to treat us all like we are time wasters is really unfair. I am always polite and respectable to my GP surgery and the staff working there as I would any service. I am very grateful for the NHS but this Surgery is almost impossible to get an appointment, I don't understand why we can't pre book appointments like other surgeries do, we don't all require same day appointments. I hear on a daily basis that people can't get an appointment so they attend A and E instead. Dissapointed

  7. Review titled Awful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

I am suffering with my mental health and finally at the age of 25 I decided to get help. I contacted my local GP (Hollymoor medical centre) i was speaking to them when the phone cut off. Instead of ringing me back they contacted my mom regarding my mental health which was embarrassing and was breaching data protection. They finally put me on antidepressants, very recently I have been trying to receive another batch of antidepressants as I have run out. Its getting close to a week of no medication. I have recorded my calls to prove that when I ring it cuts out or I get told "Ring tomorrow at 8am" what am I meant to do? I wonder how many individuals are in a much worse state of mind than me and what they would do if this was happening to them!.

  8. Review titled Not very helpful

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I know the perspective on COVID has changed with most people understandably, however having had COVID previously which required ITU admission and ventilation I would have hoped to be supported with having it again. I tested positive yesterday for a second time with the same symptoms as last time. I would very much like to minimise the risk of going to hospital again so requested an appointment to discuss the medications available for out of hospital use (anti-virals). Unfortunately my GP didn’t seem this as necessary and said I didn’t warrant an appointment. The receptionist spoke to the duty doctor regarding this. I’ve resorted to ring 111 who have referred me to a clinician in regards to the anti virals due to my COVID history. Honestly just hoped to have had a conversation regarding the risks/potential and current symptoms. It is a shame as they have been very helpful up until now.
