I have had outstanding and professional help from a lady one of the reception team. This lady has help me out with a medical problem this last week by speaking and sorting out medication with the Nurse/Doctor which I have been very grateful for. The kindness which was given over the phone was outstanding and when you are poorly goes along way. Thank you.

  3. Review titled Unprofessional

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Upon getting results back from a blood test which showed a mildly raised cholesterol level, and slightly poor liver function, the Dr I spoke with said “well you are big”. I was very offended, and whilst I may not in the ideal BMI range, that may have something to do with the fact that I am having to take steroids for Crohn’s disease, and have been very unwell since January whilst my disease is active. Contending with this, a brain disorder and arthritis since the age of 15 has had an impact on my ability to exercise. I was upset that none of that was taken into consideration, and whilst I appreciate the concern my weight may have on my health which I do believe a good Dr must consider, I don’t think the way it was said or the words used were kind or professional at all. My hope in leaving this review is that staff at the surgery will be a bit more professional and tactful in the words and things they say to patients, or at least check patients notes to get some background on them before jumping to conclusions about things. I could have a family history of high cholesterol, or my liver function may have been affected by my steroids, for example… Please consider speaking to your staff and GPs about how and what is said to patients, and how to be kinder. I’ve struggled with weight and body image for as long as I can remember, and thankfully I am in a place where I can brush the comment off and take steps to lose some weight, but some people could be really hurt by this.

Dear patient, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I am sorry that you have had cause to raise this issue of a GP using terms that caused you offence or distress about your BMI. I have raised this with our GP Partners but without knowing who it was that you saw, it's difficult to be specific. I would be happy for you to contact me via the surgery if you wish to give details. Thank you. Anna Rogers Practice Manager

  4. Review titled Staff at the reception is absolutely vile

Rated 1 star out of 5

Called this morning for an appointment or a call back from GP as had medical procedure done last week and still in pain - needed advice, plus some guidance on HRT. The person I have spoken to about appointment would not let me finish my sentence when I was trying to explain reasons for an appointment, kept interrupting and being rude. I have asked for specific GP as that person trained in HRT and was told that I have to wait till end of October. She has also refused to put a note through the system for GP to see claiming that I need to call back tomorrow instead. When I have asked for complaints procedures she almost bracingly said that she will sent it to me as if she knows that nothing is going to happen to her and she can carry on being rude and offensive to patients.

  5. Review titled Please avoid this practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

My experience is a bad one as of late. A few weeks ago I dropped off a urine sample. A receptionist told me to write my name and put it in the box and she will deal with it. I took her request and did what she said. A few hours go by and I don’t hear back; despite what the receptionist had said. By this stage js 5pm, close to closing time. I call back. My sample was left in the box and I was told “we request that you don’t leave them in the box” and as a result, my urine wasn’t the best sample to use… but it showed signs of infection. A few weeks after that my signs of high blood pressure arose. As I write this, it is again sky high. I try to make an appointment and was told “it should be routine if about medication or blood pressure” despite once again a long list of symptoms all linking to it; including extreme fatigue and lights head ness. They tell me to call 111. 111 tell me to contact my local GP. What on earth is going on? Eventually I see a nurse who tells me it’ll all get sorted out before my trip. Two weeks later and I’m yet to hear back. As I’ve yet to see a doctor I am absolutely scared about my health with no answers so I finally call the reception team after a nurse had listed that she will liaise with the team to make an appointment with a GP. No appointment happened. Yet again in the dark and yet again no answers and the list of symptoms growing. They put it down as a “routine” appointment and told to call back in the morning for an urgent appointment. So I did this again. Finally to be told the same thing. The doctors here are fantastic. But the negligence I am facing from the admin team is barbaric. Please if you have chronic illness. Avoid this practice. I am on week 3 of no answers, 4 hours of sleep a day and as a result crippling anxiety, pain and lightheaded ness. I have no quality of life now

  6. Review titled Used to be an amazing practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

I called today to book an appointment for 2 weeks time. I had a heart attack last week, was in hospital for 7days. Today I needed to book a follow up appointment for that and also for a diabetes review as I was diagnosed whilst in hospital. I was told I would get a message with a link to book. 3 hours later I get a call back questioning why I need an appointment. I need one because of the reasons already stated. Why is it so difficult to see a doctor? Why can't I just book an appointment by calling the surgery and getting an appointment? Whoever decided the new system was better is an utter idiot I have been a patient for 17 years and always thought the practice was the best I have ever used. Now I'm not even sure it's the best in Ironbridge

  9. Review titled Easy to get appointment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Having had a bad experience with a previous practice in getting appointments I moved to Ironbridge Medical Practice. Today was the first time I needed a face to face appointment and managed to get one first thing this morning. Arrived early and was seen early, doctor was very helpful. Would highly recommend. Only down side was parking but this can’t be helped as it is a small practice, so you may have to park on road and walk down.
