I want to thank the professional practitioner who worked tirelessly with me to get my blood pressure down. It took loads of time and patience, this gave me confidence and taught me much needed patience too! All the staff here do their best in remarkably difficult circumstances, so thank you all!

I know reception staff have always faced criticism. Having worked in over 7 surgeries across North-East Essex and witnessed other surgeries support staff - the Thorpe Surgery reception staff are shockingly rude and bar one lady, who is extremely helpful, the others are unhelpful. Reminiscent of “Little Britain”. Real shame that a well loved GP Practice has employed support staff that provide no support.

I’m post op having been discharged by the hospital without adequate pain relief. I had a difficult night with a lot of pain and the next day tried to get in touch with the ward (as it should be their problem to sort not the GP’s!!), but no luck. In desperation I called my surgery to see if I could speak to a clinician to ask for help. But there were no appointments left and the receptionist suggested I sent an email with my discharge summary and they would see what could be done - but no promises! I really wasn’t holding out much hope and was gearing up for another night of pain. But to my relief and delight I had a call back from a lovely nurse practitioner shortly after 10am- I think they had squeezed me in!! She was so lovely and helpful, I swear the pain already felt easier just speaking to her. I am so grateful to them, I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the staff since I registered here several years ago. They always do their best to help their patients despite the huge pressures on the service. So I just want to shout out to all the staff at Thorpe surgery - that receptionist I spoke to earlier today, thanks for forwarding my urgent email request to the doctor. And to that nice nurse practitioner. You are lovely people. Thank you from a very grateful patient!

Was seen today by The Practice Paramedic and was totally blown away. He listened, was thorough and professional. He was also very informative. A credit to the NHS

Suffering severe mental health problems after multiple close bereavements, I was appalled at the rudeness and self-importance displayed by one of the non-doctor practitioners. I left feeling so upset and anxious that I will never attend the surgery again unless absolutely imperative. I now get tremors and intense anxiety if I even think about calling them.

It took me 1hr of being on the phone to get from 11th in the queue to 7th and then the phone line cut me off. I've been sent a letter and text several times about booking a smear test I would if I could actually get throught to book one as i cant book one on line as there seems to be no appointment its incredibly frustrating.If you manage to get to speek to someone the receptionists are useless and rude and seem to have no idea how the surgery actually runs a lot of contradicting advice and getting booked in for the wrong things. They messed up my sons blood test and when I complained they didn't really acknowledge the actually problem. It is a real shame as the doctors are actually very good if you managed to get to see one.

I do appreciate that it is very frustrating that there simply are not enough resources to meet the current demands. It's such a pity that the Reception staff are utterly rude as the Doctors are lovely, professional and helpful. Greeting and a smile is surely part of a Receptionist's job.

I have only lived in the area for a year. So far we have had a shocking experience as making an appointment to see a GP has been nearly impossible. We have followed the procedure to call and book a triage but so far have only meet with the practice paramedic. Results have not been followed up to - this resulted in me having to chase to then be told my health issue had continued - without calling I fear no one at the practice would have proactively cared about my wellbeing. Rude reception staff with no time for anyone - no one willing to do anything outside of their job expectation to actually resolve things - computer says no attitude amounting to no trust in the system. A shame as its a pretty building in a lovely village.
