  1. Review titled So difficult to contact this practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 September 2023

Increasingly frustrated with trying to contact this practice by telephone. Rang several times between 8.30 am and 3pm to receive a recorded message asking that I call later due to high volume of calls. Rang again at 3.15pm and joined a queue at position number ten. Reached number 1 in the queue after 25 minutes then nothing, just the endless on hold music. I gave up after one hour and 8 minutes. I need to make an appointment due to being unable to order my repeat prescription medication as the doctor has to review my medications before I can do this. Please employ more reception staff. Going to have to visit the surgery in person to make an appointment in future.

  2. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Phoned to make appointment with a doctor to discuss blood results on a Tuesday afternoon. No appointment available this week so was offered ‘the hub’. Appointment made for Saturday but within 2 hours a doctor had called me, discussed the results and agreed to contact the hospital for me. Thank you to the receptionist that suggested using this service.

  3. Review titled Two Sugars please..

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This is a positive review to share the other side of patient experience. We patients are naturally self-focused on our ailments and needs whilst bombarded with marketing from word-of-mouth or the media which influences our perception of GP surgeries. We are also in an unprecedented time of increasing immigration, reduced numbers of GP's, pandemic backlogs delivering 2 years of medical needs in one time and now the war in Ukraine leading to cost of living strike actions which affect all those travelling to work (including surgery staff). Due to the pandemic when I tried to get an appointment I was quoted 4 weeks and together with the media it is normal to think this is the way forward. Yet recently I attended with a swollen ankle and was given an appointment the same day. The receptionists are customer facing and so receive all the complaints. You would expect them to be fraught and we all feel our personalities change when unable to escape a negative atmosphere for a long period of time. Yet the two people on reception were bright and friendly sharing good humour so I forgot I had a painful ankle. It was like being in a cafe with friends. The waiting area to this surgery is bright and with good airflow. It feels less clinical than many surgeries although I do feel perhaps a large cork board to pin local community events (and patient feedback) would create a more community feel (people complain less and defend the service of what they feel they are a part of). The surgery would probably find one of the pharmaceutical reps would pay for it in return for their literature pinned to a corner. The GP's are people and people are varied. My father for example, has a GP at another practice which I feel is less attentive than I wished for my dad. But here I have been seen by 5 now and they all seem able to retain energy to give the patient their focus and often with good humour. I actually look forward to going again (though am very happy to wait a while..). I left a review in the practice and I am sure that most surgeries would not have the time to do much with them. But the practice manager called to say a personal thank you. I hope this feedback counters the media and word-of-mouth stories while giving heart to all patients who either had long wait times before or anticipate them and so refrain from calling about a problem. But I also hope not many people read it who are yet to join the practice.. ;) Well done staff and when you get the next shouting patient, remind yourself that they are probably having a bad day and if you remain friendly they will feel embarrassed about their behaviour once they get home..

  4. Review titled Excellent service in hard times

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Have been with this surgery for 66 years but would just like to thank them for their excellent service over the last (unusual to say the least) 2.5 years. On the 4 occasions I have needed them, I have been treated with respect and my concerns sorted out straight away. Thank you

Called surgery at 9.30, Physician Associate phoned back within half an hour, arranged to see me. Saw Physician Associate at 2.45, examined and had picked up my prescription from pharmacy at 3pm. Excellent service, polite team.

  6. Review titled Fantastic New Surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Angela Roberts - Posted on 20 May 2022

Good evening, I was anxious joining a new surgery, after my last surgery of 25 years was fantastic. I researched surgeries in the area and joined this one earlier this year, after a home move to the area. I have had quite a bit of contact with them due to ill health. So far I have not received any negative service. Well done and may it continue. Thank you. I wanted to let the surgery know and was advised to make my feelings known via NHS Choices.
