  1. Review titled Given mixed incorrect information by call handlers

by Sarah Bingham - Posted on 26 April 2024

Twice now I have called to chase up my GP call back as it has been six weeks since I raised a ticket (plus another 8 weeks from before the test results text). On both occassions the call handler stated if I called back at 8am the next day I would have my request marked as urgent so that it was dealts with quickly. I have arthritis so the pain I go through to get up early is intense, but I did it both times only to be told the call handler was giving me miss-information both times and nothing would be done. After the first time it happened, I was told the miss-informing call handler would be spoken to (after listening to the call - which I gave them to time and date details for) so it did not happen again but it did happen again so clearly that was not done either. It has been the six weeks now and the lady I just spoke to today was very rude and abrupt on the call (cut me off after I started to speak just to shut me down quickly). I have a job dealing with difficult situations and calls myself for a charity and if I spoke to someone in that manner (immediately defensive, patronising and just not listening) I would not class myself as being good at my job. It was the same lady as last time and she was just a rude then too (I will try calling on a different day to avoid them) She needs to have a think about how she speaks to people. I had to hang up as they would not let me say anything. I get there are major issues at both GP surgeries and Hospitals (not entirely sure why it has gone so wrong though), but talking to people with respect is free and resolving the call handler issue is a quick fix, so rather that being annoyed at getting a call you should fix your internal issues and attitude.

  2. Review titled Appalling

A nurse took my blood pressure this week after I had also submitted blood pressure readings as requested. Yesterday I received a phone call from the surgery which I answered and whilst I was continually saying "hello" the phone still connected I received a text saying that I had been phoned and there was no reply! The text said I would get another call later. Today a text arrived saying that if I still wanted to speak to someone I should start again by making an online request. If I make a request after a considerable wait would the person ringing bother to speak to me when I answer the phone or just text simultaneously that I'm not answering? How do I get my extremely high blood pressure treated?

  3. Review titled Fantastic service, very informative

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Sarah (40) - Posted on 18 January 2024

I found a lump under my armpit, it has been there for a week. I was made my colleagues to contact the Dr. I put a Klinik request through at 16.30, the Dr called me as 17.15 and i was seen face to face at 17.40. I didn't expect to be seen so quickly. I worked in a surgery for 10 years and knew these things were taken seriously but i didn't expect a same day appointment. The Dr was so kind, re assuring and very informative. I left feeling very calm and fully informed of what the next steps are and the timescales that are expected. Credit were credit is needed. Drs surgeries get slated so much, it was part of my reason for leaving the NHS. Thank you for the great care that was given.

If you request an appointment with a GP there is a 5 to 6 week(!) wait before they even review the urgency of your case. Then youll be waiting at least another week for the actisl appointment. Absolutely abysmal. I appreciate that the NHS and medical services generally have been systematically gutted by the tories, but this is actually shocking.

  5. Review titled Appalling service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Called to request a face-to-face appointment due to concerns my employer has about me, which I explained. Abruptly I was advised we have no appointment, let alone a face-to-face appointment. Was advised I'd need to complete the online form and if a GP thought I needed to be seen then I'd be offered an appointment.

  7. Review titled Telephone System.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I phoned today at 3.20pm to make an appointment at Rawcliffe surgery to have my blood pressure taken as I had received 2 texts inviting me to attend. I understood from what I was told last week that BP machine was broken & I would have to make an appointment with a nurse. I phoned at 3.20pm but at 4.20pm I gave up as by then it had cost just over £1. I know the phone line is very busy with 9 surgeries going into one switchboard (if I am correctly informed) which does make people quite angry. I wonder if it is correct that there are 8 switchboard operators? It is obviously not enough or perhaps two switchboards are needed. It can only get worse for all concerned?

  8. Review titled Poor online service and practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 October 2023

I wouldn’t recommend this group of surgeries Had either the option of a/e or 4-5 week wait for my complaint. Both of which were highly unreasonable. Managed to piggyback off my husbands appointment as he demanded they spoke to me. I have a poor understanding of my complaint- no understanding of how long I should be off work with it. Only positive was that I was prescribed a large amount of pain relief that seems to knock me out!

I have a skin condition that flares up now and again, it makes my skin feel like it’s on fire, was only diagnosed a few months ago, been trying since Tuesday to get the medication I need and been told someone will ring me Monday as they are unable to process the prescription, so now I am left in pain for days and expected to just carry on with work and my daily life while in pain and very itchy.

  10. Review titled Poor patient relationship

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 April 2023

Not allowed to ring to order repeat medication not even the elderly who cannot do this online and have poor mobility ( my mum ) I have to sort this for her taking away her independence. Feel sorry for those that have no family to help them. No ear syringing service anymore but the Nurses do offer this via Facebook for a charge ! Appalling that in the cost of living crisis people have to pay to get this done. No patient empathy at all when you ring or get a response from the email. Told a diabetic patient to maybe consider stopping her insulin declined as wanted to live, absolute joke and am looking to move after over 40 years with this practice I have had enough.
