The NHS App home screen
This video explains the layout of the NHS App home screen and how to navigate to the main features, including requesting repeat prescriptions, booking appointments, and accessing your test results.
Media review due: 24 March 2029
We're introducing this update gradually. When it's available to you, you'll be able to update your app to version 6 or above.
You can:
- update the app on the Apple App Store if you have an Apple device
- update the app on the Google Play Store if you have an Android device
New home screen
On the new home screen, you'll find services and your health information placed together in clearer categories.
If you're looking for information from your GP health record, you can now find it by selecting the relevant option on the home screen:
- prescriptions
- appointments
- test results
- vaccinations
- health conditions
- documents
You can find your appointment notes (previously described as consultations and events) in appointments.
Depending on your GP surgery, the home screen may show allergies and adverse reactions instead of health conditions.
Simpler navigation
The updated app has 3 main areas:
- Home
- Messages
- Profile
You can move between these areas using the app menu bar.
Updated profile area
In your profile, you can view your NHS number and update your personal details or health choices.
This is also where you can manage health services for family members or people you care for (sometimes called proxy access).
If you need help
See our information on help with using the NHS App.
You can also access this information by selecting App help at the top of any screen when you use the app.
You can contact the NHS App support team if you're still having problems.
Giving feedback
Your feedback helps us improve the NHS App.
You may see a survey link when you use the app. You can also leave a review on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to let us know what you think.
