Lidocaine for piles and itchy bottom and pregnancy

It's safe to use lidocaine treatments for piles and itchy bottom while you're pregnant.

Lidocaine for piles and itchy bottom and breastfeeding

Lidocaine is OK to use while breastfeeding. It is only likely to pass into breast milk in tiny amounts, which are very unlikely to cause side effects in your baby.

Always wash your hands after using a lidocaine treatment and before picking up your baby.

Some lidocaine treatments for piles and itchy bottom also contain other ingredients such as steroids. Steroids are also OK to use while breastfeeding for a short time. Always check the ingredients.

Ask a pharmacist for advice if you have piles or an itchy bottom. They will be able to recommend the best treatment for you.

Lidocaine for piles and itchy bottom and fertility

There's no evidence to suggest that lidocaine treatments for piles and itchy bottom affect fertility in either men or women.

Non-urgent advice: Tell your doctor if you're:

  • trying to get pregnant
