About

Young Carers Contact provides free and confidential flexible outreach support to young carers within Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale, and offers preventative support in the form of breaks away and activities. We offer the young carers various types of flexible support through one-to-ones, group sessions, activities, residential trips, emergency plans and also advocacy and information. Young Carers are also supported and represented at meetings if it is appropriate.

Target group

Young carers for which we have received a referral, and they have been assessed as a young carer.

Referral method

Referrals from professionals have to be received through the CAF (Common Assessment Framework). If there is a CAF already in progress for the child/ young person then a copy can be sent in to Young Carers as a referral. If there is not already a CAF in progress for the child/ young person then it needs to be completed in the usual way. For more information on the CAF and how to complete it you can access Lancashire County Council's website. If you are unsure about the CAF or do not use the CAF due to the child/ young person's needs exceeding CAF thresholds, please contact the project for further information. Self-referrals can be completed by filling in the self-referral form which can be accessed via the website or sent out by contacting 01282 835728.
