St John Ambulance Dorset provides a Carers Support Programme to help people in a caring role.

The Carers Support Programme is a free 4 session course (held over one morning for four weeks) and is available to any adult who looks after another, in caring capacity. The course material is accredited by the Royal College of Nursing and is taught by an experienced nurse. Subjects covered during the course include looking at the Carers role, practical first aid, continence issues, safer moving and handling, back care, falls prevention, stress management and understanding dementia. Refreshments and lunch are all provided. Places on each course are limited. Courses are delivered all over Dorset.

The programme is led, developed and delivered by a dedicated team of experienced registered nurses. It is accredited by The Royal College of Nursing and supported by Dorset County Council.
