You are only entitled to an NHS Health Check from the local authority in which you live.
This service is available to eligible residents or patients registered to a GP in this catchment area.

Referral method

If you are aged 40 to 74 have no pre-existing cardiovascular condition and are registered with a GP you should receive an invitation (letter text or email) for a free NHS Health Check every 5 years.

Once you receive your invitation follow the instructions provided to book your appointment. You can also contact your GP surgery to check if you’re eligible and ask how to book or Healthy You Fill out their self-referral/sign-up form on the Healthy You website or you can get in touch with your Peterborough council ’s Public Health team to find out dates and locations of NHS Health Check clinics available in the community.

Description of service

The NHS Health Check is a simple check of your heart health. Aimed at adults in England aged 40 to 74, it checks your vascular or circulatory health and works out your risk of developing some of the most disabling – but preventable – illnesses. It is free of charge, including any follow-up tests or appointments.

Service type

The NHS Health Check service is delivered in two types of settings:

1. GP practices: Core delivery point for registered patients. Patients are invited automatically if eligible.

Community locations: Delivered through public health contracts Healthy You in Peterborough

Locations include Libraries Community centres Workplaces Events or mobile vans
