About

Welcome to Penniwells Riding for Disabled Centre.

Our aim is to provide disabled people with the opportunity to ride to benefit their health and well being. Without our much valued Team of Volunteers & Staff at the Centre such a first class service would not be able to be provided.

Penniwells RDA provides riding & stable management sessions for adults & children and are dedicated to ensuring that all our riders receive a high standard of professional tuition tailored to their personal ambitions and capabilities. Our instructors work closely with physiotherapists and other health professionals to encourage every individual to aim for attainable goals – some modest, others far more ambitious.

Target group

Huge benefits have been demonstrated in disabled riders with cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy. Whether a rider is blind, deaf, mentally impaired, or suffering from one of the above disabilities, horse riding can really enrich their lives.

Further information

Each rider is provided with a leader and either 1 or 2 side helpers as is required – some may not need a side helper at all – all this is assessed on your first ride. We teach all our riders to really ride their ponies therefore will encourage them to become independent of the side help and leaders if and when they are able to do so. All riders are encouraged to ride with & without stirrups as the disability allows along with progression of ridden skills.

Referral method

Self referral or referral via professional.
