About
The Royal College of Podiatry is the professional body for podiatrists in the UK, setting academic and clinical standards, promoting research and education, and raising awareness of foot health.
Podiatrists are regulated professionals who are experts in assessing, diagnosing, and treating conditions, injuries, diseases, and traumas of the foot and lower limb. They prevent, manage, and correct foot irregularities, relieve pain, treat infection, and keep people of all ages mobile and active.
Podiatrists (also known as chiropodists) are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and work across both the NHS and independent/private sectors.
While certain NHS treatments are fully funded based on specific local medical criteria, independent and private podiatry services are typically fee-paying unless otherwise specified.
Throughout their careers, the College supports podiatrists to deliver high-quality foot and lower-limb care and to continue developing their skills.
