About

Young Carers are children and young people under the age of 18 years, who provide care to another family member, who has a physical illness or disability, mental ill-health, sensory disability or has a problematic use of drugs or alcohol.

Young Carers are a vulnerable and unrecognised group in society who can suffer low self esteem due to feeling different from their peers. They can be socially isolated due to very little leisure time to be able to enjoy and achieve and they are often tired and worried. Their caring role may have a negative impact on their attendance at school and their academic achievement and can affect their lives both physically and emotionally.

We are a registered Charity providing support and respite breaks for young carers and their families in the borough of Wigan. The holiday scheme offers weekend & midweek breaks, which during term times will also be available to adult carers.
