My negative experience was specifically with the Southwark South Pcmht. Each care coordinator I was assigned was hard to connect with and dismissive. I don't believe my care was of good quality despite seeing the consultant psychiatrist on a monthly basis. I also had a depression diagnosis that was overlooked by them and not treated. Instead I was suppressed with sleeping tablets. If I hadn't had the initiative to see the mental health nurse at my GP who identified that I was depressed (don't know why the psychiatrist couldn't), I don't know where I would be today. A member of this team also criticised me for seeing a private psychiatrist even thought I was at one point waiting an unbelievably long time to see a psychiatrist, and they also didn't even contact me to advise on waiting times. Luckily I was eventually prescribed an antidepressant that worked for me and has enabled me to resume university and build my life again. Sad to say that I have little positive things to say about this team, from management to care coordinators.
