I occasionally get gout in my foot, normally I take a couple of Naproxen tablets and it goes away. I tried to buy some from a chemist as was told it is now a prescription drug and I would have to ask my doctors, no problem I thought. I contacted my doctors and was told I might have to see a doctor but they would message the doctor and see if they would prescribe without seeing me and they would call me back to let me know. Day 1 no phone call. Day 2 I telephoned the surgery and was told the person had not read their messages, as soon as they had they would call me. I telephoned again because I was hobbling around with a pain in my foot and was told the person still hadn't read their messages and was told the surgery has 9000 patients and only one doctor was working that day. So day 3 still no feed back from surgery, tried to make an appointment to see a doctor at 8 o'clock and was automatically put in a queue of 25 people which from experience I would have been waiting at least 45 minutes so I finished the call. Out of interest I telephoned 12 minutes later only to be told all appointments for that day had gone, so even if I had waited I still would not have got an appointment. So I guess I will have to keep taking pain killers and hope that eventually the gout will ease enough for me to walk properly. This was so simple to resolve but the staff have made it so difficult.
