From referral from my G P to the procedure and aftercare at the Gateshead C H E C clinic the service provided was excellent. The reception area was welcoming and spacious and staff friendly. All of the clinical staff I met were very professional, reassuring and explained the whole process carefully and answered questions I may have had clearly and listened any concerns and gave appropriate advice. I was made to feel comfortable with their emphasis on patient care. Highly recommended

Unable to leave names sadly. All staff were extremely friendly as well as professional. Never had the procedure before was put at ease straight away with the nurse. Reassurance given throughout the procedure both colonoscopy & gastroscopy as you can imagine embarrassing, but not once did I feel embarrassed! After care even though felt a little drunk on the medication given & my inappropriate mouth opened lol the staff were lovely to me. So thankyou to you all & for the wonderful work you do very grateful 🙏

I had a cataract done yesterday. Previously there was a long wait ( I understand this, it's nhs with emergencies coming in at times) but this time I was fairly promptly dealt with and the professionals are excellent. All the staff were friendly helpful and welcoming. Thank you!

Staff excellent, professional, caring and considerate. I have hearing problems and they ensured I understood the procedure. The operation was relatively painless, discomfort free and completed within 20 minutes. Thank you.

Very efficient treatment provider. Excellent information booklets before and after op. Waiting time for op. acceptable. Very pleasant and helpful staff from receptionists to nurses to surgeon. My eyesight in the operated eye is markedly clearer already only a day after the op. A happy patient ! Thank-you.

First I went to the CHEC opticians in Peckham, London, he was kind and professional, referred me for surgery, wasn’t expecting that. On the 10th October 2023, went to CHEC New Cross, for my Ophthalmology appointment, without naming names, hope they know who I mean! I would like to say how grateful I am! First to the staff that examined my eyes. Second for the kind young man for giving me a chance to have a Cataract operation so quickly, after a cancellation from someone. Also all the people that cared for me, so well during the operation. Most of all the work that the surgeon done, so quickly and carefully, on me, it must be so difficult to continue to do so well day in, day out. The Surgeon has given me such a gift, he even put a better lens in, for me to see distance better, and for the first time since I was born,with my left eye, I can see shapes and what they are, now I’m in my 60’s, and there’s other things I found out about my eyes for the first time. How lucky am I!

I live in Pontefract and was referred to CHEC by my optician. Initially all was well and I saw a consultant in Pontefract which is where I live. He asked me to go back after a couple of months and I was able to go to another appointment at a different local surgery a few miles from Pontefract. However I was again asked to make a follow up appointment and there are no appointments available or offered within 50 miles of this location. Other people have commented to me that sometimes a local service is there and sometimes it isn't. On the CHEC website they show locations where they have a service and they are few and far between with not one in the large county of Yorkshire. They just aren't able to offer a service - but what alternative is there?
