  1. Review titled Poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Daniel McLean - Posted on 26 April 2024

I was referred by boots opticians having paid £25 for a private scan which showed I need to be seen. I received an appointment to say I needed to seen by a technician first, and my eye would be dialated. My wife took time off work took us an hour to get to the Warrington clinic for a 1 minute appointment to have the scan I had the week before and no dialation. What a waste of everyone’s time and money when this had already been done. I now need a further appointment and no one can tell me if I will have my eye dialated, more time off work for my wife as the doctor only looks at the scan 5 minutes beforehand. Prior to the appointment I told the call centre a full examination and scan had already been carried out. Not happy with this service.

  2. Review titled Efficient practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My optician referred me for laser treatment on 10.04.24. I have now been offered an appointment and received the treatment after only 6 days. So good to see what can be done with efficient systems.

  3. Review titled No complaints

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Mrs Marjorie Sandiford - Posted on 20 April 2024

I was seen at the arranged time and treated kindly before going on to the lady consultant. She examined my eyes and reassured me all was well, but the swelling and slight aches in my left eye (most recent op) might continue for a bit. Gave me a different make of drops and said she would tell my surgery for ongoing prescriptions. I left feeling reassured. Thank you! The location is not so easy to find as Stevenage (for me) which is why I said 'likely' not 'very likely'.

  5. Review titled I received a report about eye test in Dec 2023 yesterday

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by David John Brannock - Posted on 16 April 2024

I was contacted by my local surgery to say that they can add the suggested drops to my prescription. I have never personally received the report. I was called by the ophthalmologist today prompted by the local surgery to explain the additional drops but said the communication was your problem not his! I have called tried to enter your email system and completely failed to make contact with anything. Please establish contact by email or 01691 662 976. David Brannock

  6. Review titled Double bookings.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 April 2024

All patients today were double booked. So inevitably had to wait quite a while for my appointment. Staff were very apologetic. The waiting room was constantly busy.

  8. Review titled Excellent treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Glenis Stott - Posted on 04 April 2024

I was very concerned that I had developed Glaucoma and CHEC reception arranged for me to see the doctor straight after my glaucoma check. This is not normal practice. The technician doing the test explained what she was doing throughout and made sure that I knew what was going on. She was very patient with me. After the tests I waited in the waiting room for a few minutes and then I saw the doctor. He examined my eyes and looked at the test results. He told me that it was not Glaucoma but I had dry eyes which was causing my symptoms. He gave me some drops to use and explained how to use them. He ensured that I understood what he was saying and reassured me that it was nothing to worry about. I am very thankful for CHEC. I have been going for several years.

  10. Review titled No Smartphone, No Appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 May 2024

Everything seems to be based around smartphones. If you don't have an up to date smartphone with a mobile data plan things become very difficult. Weblinks to make appointment are only sent by text, meaning you have to try and transcribe complicated URLs into a web browser. If you don't do this within a certain number of days you are essentially thrown out of the system and can no longer make an appointment. Given this is a service most likely used by the elderly and those with poor eyesight it is really not good enough. Before this CHEC system was introduced, one could visit the Eye Unit at the Hospital where there were much better facilities and large enough waiting areas instead on tiny cramped areas in a former shop where one sometimes has to wait outside on the street - not great in poor weather!
