  1. Review titled Children’s A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Carly Rushworth - Posted on 29 May 2023

The children’s A&E department at Worthing is the best A&E I have ever been too! All the staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to treat my autistic daughter who has extreme anxiety and fear of the unknown. It was no easy task to maintain patience and professionalism when she was “freaking out” over having a few stitches in her knee but every member of staff managed it, from the reception desk to the doctors! I would 100% recommend this department and cannot thank them for the service they provided in such a challenging situation!

  2. Review titled Excellent Hospital Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Adrian - Posted on 18 May 2023

I was brought into A@E by ambulance with severe stomach pain, A@E is always busy but by evening I was found a bed in the “surgical assessment ward” just off Chiltington ward here I was treated with kindness and efficiency by the nursing teams on both shifts, this high standard continued when I was transferred to Chiltington ward proper. In my stay at Worthing hospital I was given a scan and a endoscopic examination to determine my bowel problem again both these departments treated me with kindness and reassurance. Every member of staff I met seemed positive even the catering and cleaning staff who often go unmentioned keeping the hospital clean and the patients well fed deserve high praise. Overall a very positive experience.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John Maitland - Posted on 07 May 2023

I was admitted into A&E on Tuesday 2nd May with chest pains. After tests ECG, and blood tests I was admitted to Courtlands Cardiology ward. I was given an angiogram which revealed I had an heart attack they successfully fitted two stents on Thursday 4th May I was discharged on May 5th. The service and treatment I received was second to none. All the staff, Doctors, Nurses, catering and cleaners were exceptionally hard working kind and considerate. Please thank all the staff on my behalf for the very high level of treatment I received. John Maitland

  4. Review titled Absolutely horrible.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Elizabeth Sheppardson - Posted on 17 May 2023

Yesterday was the worst experience of Worthing A & E I've ever had. I am a 69yr old woman with chronic abdominal pain. I called for an ambulance at around 6.45 am, because I was very scared about the pain and was worried I was going to faint. They arrived within 10 minutes but didn't seem to think I needed to go to hospital. They reluctantly agreed to take me but didn't offer me any pain relief or anti sickness medication. When I arrived at A& E, I was treated with even more contempt and sat on a chair while blood was taken and a canula inserted. I begged for pain relief but none was given to me. Instead they took a blood sample. No one told me what was going on, or when a doctor would see me. I also felt extremely sick because of the pain and asked them for anti sickness medication. I was just left to sit alone with no interaction from the nurses whatsoever. I had been booked for an ultrasound scan on my abominal organs at 9.20 that morning and had asked for someone to accompany me but no-one did and I managed to make my own way. Nothing was found on the scan and I got lost finding my way back to th A&E room I was in. I eventually got a Codeine tablet + anti sickness tablet but it was all too late. I asked when I could see a doctor but was told it would be hours and other people were more serious. I broke down and cried with the pain but no-one cared. After a while I decided to discharge myself and self medicate to numb the pain. They took out my cannula and sent me on my way. As I walked outside my right arm started pouring with blood from the cannula removal . I went back to A & E and had the wound redressed. Then I got a taxi home. This was one of the worst experiences of my life. The staff were the most uncaring people I have ever met,
