  1. Review titled Minor injuries fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by James - Posted on 24 April 2024

I was foolish enough whilst gardening to stand on a nail which went straight into the bottom of my foot! I knew it was many years since I had a tetanus jab. I called at 11.30 and they very kindly booked me in to an appointment at 13.30. I arrived in minor injury and the receptionist was kind helpful and explained that they were running 45-60 minutes behind. I was actually seen much faster at about 13.45 by a kind and helpful nurse who provided me with a tetanus Jab and anti biotics. Such a fantastic service cannot thank you enough. I intend to wear boots in the garden from now on!!

  2. Review titled Waiting time target dodge

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Daniel - Posted on 28 April 2024

My appointment was categorised as urgent. Target waiting time exceeded. Phantom appointment offered and cancelled 30 minutes later. Removed from the waiting list. Seems a simple dodge to avoid investigation and missing targets by a great margin. A failed service. Patients placed in harms way.

  4. Review titled A perfect practice with caring, well qualified staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Christopher ( Kit) Marriott - Posted on 21 March 2024

On an early Sunday evening, in late January 2024, I slipped off the lower step of our staircase carrying a laundry “basket” , which launched me into a sharp pointed right angled wall , cutting open part of my forehead above my right eye, causing plenty of bleeding , which encouraged my wife to call wbch to see if they could attend to me, which they duly did., after which I was seen at the minor Injuries clinic and superbly well cared for by well experienced staff who stitched my wound perfectly which shows little or no sign of the wound . The care and attention to detail was quite superb and speaks highly of nhs emergency service on a Sunday evening . Thank you and long may this excellent care continue within the too often maligned nhs which really is excellent.

  6. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Michael Towner - Posted on 04 December 2023

My daughter needed bloodwork and the GP could not do it for over 4 weeks. Called West Berkshire and was answered immediately and got an appointment within 3 days. Hospital is well organized and parking was easy. My daughter was seen to within a few minutes of set appointment time and was well taken care of. Thank you.

  7. Review titled Awful booking systems

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 March 2023

I need an urgent blood test. My GP initially didn’t label it urgent. So one Friday I rang to book , waited 40 minutes to get to speak to a receptionist. She was very nice but told me I couldn’t book it by phone because it wasn’t urgent. So my GP changed it to urgent. I have now spent three days trying to get though in the phone to book the appointment. I am currently in a queue for a conversation. I have been holding the line for more than 15 minutes so far…it moves down at about 10 minutes per caller. I suspect it goes down as people give up waiting. I may do that soon.

Dear patient, Thank you for your posting and please accept my apologies for the delay in responding. I have a response from our Phlebotomy team and we are sorry that you experienced problems when booking a blood test. The phlebotomy team carry out in excess of 50,000 blood tests each year and the demand for urgent blood tests needs to be managed on a daily basis. However, the process for booking urgent appointments has recently been reviewed and subsequently changed. Previously, urgent appointments could only be booked on the day and patients were asked to phone back the next day once all appointments for that day had been taken. Patients are now booked into slots for the next morning or asked to phone back after 1pm if they are unable to attend at the times that are available and need to book into an afternoon slot. Phlebotomy can only book urgent blood tests if the GP has specifically requested this. If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me. Dear patient, Thank you for your posting and please accept my apologies for the delay in responding. I have a response from our Phlebotomy service and we are sorry that you experienced problems when booking a blood test. We have contacted the supplier of the Sangix booking system and there is a password reset function, as with any other online service. They report that they have not heard of any issues with the password reset system ever since the current version of Sangix was launched in November 2022. The phone lines do get busy and we are looking into ways to reduce the time taken to answer people who are trying to get through. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me. 9. Review titled Useless and difficult website for booking appointmenta

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2023

After the recent "improved version" of the website it has become even more unusable. You cannot see the calendar at all. The computer only tells you what are the next two-three appointments! Absolutely ridiculous! Hard to find the correct site to book the appointment. This is impossible for sick elderly people (that are forced to book online) to navigate this charade. I have been complaining for the last 8 years about the site but nobody has bothered to reply to me. Goes to show how much NHS cares for the patients. Absolutely disgusting. Shameful! Third world countries have better service - you can walk in, have your test and have your results withing half an hour.

  10. Review titled New Sangix blood test booking system

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Chris Hoar - Posted on 12 February 2023

I am a regular user of the sangix blood test booking system. I am very tech savvy. The old system worked perfectly. The new system is definitely not fit for purpose and extremely customer unfriendly. It is nearly impossible to book an appointment more than 2 weeks in advance and no explanation of what a “waiting list” is! The calendar is too small, the print is too faint. I expect the telephone booking system must be very busy as people will be put off booking online. I have read your response to other comments similar to mine and do not accept your excuse that you are not responsible for the look and operation of the system. Surely you had some patients beta test the system before it went live! Some sort of timescales as to when the system will be changed to a more user friendly system would be appreciated. I would like to book a blood test at the beginning of May 2023. Not put on a waiting list which does not help with planning. Some help would be appreciated
